About Candidate
Born in Beijing and raised in New Orleans, I have always equally embraced my Chinese and American identities. From childhood trips back to China, to advising overseas Chinese on life in the US, to my career assisting Chinese clients, I have always been fascinated by the differences—and surprising similarities—between Chinese and American values systems. My experiences have taught me that effective communication in the global workplace requires not only language competency, but also an understanding of the unique cultural nuances that drive individual and companywide behavior.
In my current position, I manage day to day operations and provide wide ranging consulting support for Chinese ship owners and management companies in ports across North and South America. The unpredictable nature of the maritime industry means that no two projects are ever the same; high-stress, time-sensitive situations are the norm. Assisting clients in problem prevention is always the priority, but I am often called on to offer creative solutions when problems do arise. I am at my best when acting as a hub for facilitating communication between Chinese clients and local US-based stakeholders.
