Introduction to Baicheng Normal University

Baicheng Normal University (白城师范学院, website) is the only provincial undergraduate college in western Jilin, located in the intersection of Jilin, Heilongjiang and Inner Mongolia. The school was founded in 1958 and was formerly Baicheng Teachers College. In August 2000, the Baicheng Forestry School formerly affiliated with the State Forestry Administration was merged. In March 2002, it was upgraded to an undergraduate college.

Baicheng Normal University covers an area of 728,500 square meters and a building area of 338,600 square meters. There are 892 faculty members, including 340 teachers with senior professional titles, and 587 teachers with doctoral and master degrees. 12,428 full-time students.

Baicheng Normal University has 20 teaching units and 48 undergraduate majors, covering 9 disciplines including law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, agriculture, management, and art. There are 2 national specialties, 6 provincial high-level first-class specialties, 6 provincial specialties, 2 provincial brand specialties, 3 provincial professional engineer training program pilot specialties, and innovation and entrepreneurship education pilot specialties Each. The University has 15 provincial-level scientific research platforms including the “Key Laboratory of Inorganic Chemistry”, “Baicheng Saline-Alkali Land Treatment Engineering Technology Center”, “Tongyu New Year Painting Art Research Center” and “Tang Hongyingjing Carved Stone Research Center”. In the past three years, it has undertaken 441 teaching and research projects at and above the provincial and ministerial levels. Among them, there are 3 projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, which have won 11 awards for teaching and research achievements at the provincial or ministerial level. Teachers have published 410 papers indexed by SCI, EI, CSSCI, CSCI and other indexes; 16 books have been published; 107 national patents have been obtained.

Baicheng Normal University has cooperated with universities in South Korea, Russia and other countries, and has friendly exchanges with universities in the United States and Japan. Collaborated with Northeast Normal University, Beihua University, Northeast Forestry University and other colleges and universities on talent training. A preparatory course for ethnic minorities was opened, and publicly funded normal students were recruited.

In the 60 years since the school was established, Baicheng Normal University has always adhered to the school’s purpose of serving economic and social development, and has trained more than 70,000 qualified professionals for basic education and application-type professionals required for economic and social development.
