Chongqing Electric Power College (重庆电力高等专科学校, website) is a full-time general technical college established by the Ministry of Education under the auspices of the Chongqing Municipal People’s Government, the Chongqing Education Commission, and the Chongqing Education Commission and the State Grid Chongqing Electric Power Company.
The school’s predecessor, Chongqing Electrical Industry School, was established in May 1953 with the approval of the Central Ministry of Fuel Industry, and was later renamed Chongqing Electric Power Industry School. It is one of the first seven electric secondary professional schools in the country. In September 1953 it was renamed Chongqing Power School. In 1958 it was renamed Chongqing Electric Power School. In 1980 and 1994, it was identified as a national key secondary professional school. In 1995, it was upgraded to a higher vocational school with the approval of the State Education Commission. It is the only electric vocational college in the southwest region.

In recent years, Chongqing Electric Power College has won 1 second prize in the National Teaching Achievement Award for Vocational Education, 1 second prize in Chongqing Education Teaching Achievement, and 1 third prize. School teachers participated in the “National Power Industry Young Trainer Skills Competition” and won 1 second prize, 1 third prize, and 2 municipal prizes and 3 second prizes. Chongqing Electric Power College consists of 6 teaching colleges including the School of Electric Power Engineering, the School of Power Engineering, the School of Information Engineering, the School of Economics and Management, the Department of Quality Education, the Ministry of Physical Education, 18 administrative teaching assistants and 2 school-run industrial companies. Established 21 majors, covering 5 major categories including energy power and materials, equipment manufacturing, electronic information, finance and commerce, and tourism. The school’s professional settings are mainly based on power technology, covering the entire industrial chain of power systems such as power generation, transmission, power supply, power distribution and power consumption. There are currently 5 key construction majors in national backbone colleges, 3 key construction majors in Chongqing municipal model colleges, 4 key construction major groups in high-quality vocational colleges in Chongqing, and 2 majors in industrial development project construction supported by central financial support There are 3 majors in municipal finance to support the construction of professional service industry capacity, 7 majors in Chongqing.
Chongqing Electric Power College has 80 experimental training places with outstanding industry characteristics and advanced domestic technology. Among them, intelligent substation operation training room, thermal power plant 3D simulation training room, steam turbine control and fault diagnosis technology laboratory, etc. are in the leading position of similar universities in China. Electronic product design and assembly training center, modern logistics training center and other training bases in supporting electronic information, logistics and other professional construction capabilities continue to improve.
