Fuzhou Institute of Technology (福州理工学院, website) was formerly known as Fuzhou Strait Vocational and Technical College, which was established in 2004. In April 2015, it was formally approved by the Ministry of Education to be officially upgraded to an undergraduate applied college based on the Fuzhou Strait Vocational and Technical College. The school is committed to building a high-level university of applied technology with distinctive industrial characteristics, and to build a cradle of front-line engineers who have a combination of ethics, knowledge and action, information technology application ability and engineering practice ability. According to the school’s positioning, the school focuses on cultivating front-line engineers with a craftsman spirit, “Internet +” front-line engineers with innovative ability, and “full-chain” front-line engineers with a global vision of the industry.
Fuzhou Institute of Technology adheres to the school-running philosophy of deep integration of production and education, adheres to the RDM Centre model (Research and Development and Manufacturing) of basic research, applied research, experimental development, and high-end manufacturing, and strives to explore a “new technology-driven education” New ideas for running higher education. The Fuzhou Institute of Technology addresses the major strategic needs of the construction of the China (Fujian) Pilot Free Trade Zone and the core area of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. It has opened 37 specialized colleges, forming an engineering-oriented management system that is in line with social needs. Coordinated development of multidisciplinary disciplines such as science, economics, literature, science, etc., and an application-oriented professional system with local and industry characteristics. The university has 353 full-time teachers and 181 teachers with senior titles, of which 44 are seniors and 137 are vice seniors. Teachers with senior titles account for 51.3%; 207 teachers with master’s degree or above account for 58.6% of the total.
The university campus is located in Lianjiang County, Fuzhou City, which is known as the “Jinfeng of Mindu City”. It is adjacent to the beautiful national 4A-level scenic spot, Gui’an Hot Spring Leisure Tourism Resort. The campus covers an area of 1124.55 mu and the planned construction area is 400,000 square meters. Fuzhou Institute of Technology currently uses a building area of 208,800 square meters, mainly for teaching and training groups, including teaching, experiment, training, office, sports, living and other functional buildings and facilities.
