Guangdong Polytechnic of Water Resources and Electric Engineering (广东水利电力职业技术学院, website), founded in 1952, is the only public full-time higher vocational college in Guangdong province that specializes in water conservancy and electricity. In 2015, the school was named the Fourth National Civilized Unit by the Central Civilization Commission.
The school is a national (demonstration) backbone higher vocational college, a top-ranking higher vocational college in Guangdong Province, a project construction unit of the Ministry of Water Resources, the first batch of national water conservancy vocational education demonstration colleges, a Guangdong innovation and entrepreneurship education demonstration school, and a national top 50 university employment work demonstration Units, the Ministry of Education “Excellent Units for Talent Cultivation in Higher Vocational Colleges”, and the Vice-Chairman Unit of the Second Council of China Water Conservancy Vocational Education Group, have been awarded the title of “Advanced Vocational Education Unit” by Guangdong Province.
Guangdong Polytechnic of Water Resources and Electric Engineering is composed of Guangzhou Tianhe Campus, Guangzhou Conghua Campus, Feilaixia Teaching and Training Base, Jiangwan Practice Power Station, etc. It covers an area of about 1,100 mu, with a total construction area of 340,000 square meters. There are 160 training bases and 268 off-campus experimental training bases. The total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 107 million yuan. At present, there are more than 14,000 full-time students and 790 faculty members, including 258 teachers with senior titles, 1 expert subsidy from the State Council, 1 second-level professor, 32 professors, 59 doctors, and 422 masters. Teachers account for 88.72% of full-time professional teachers. There are ten secondary colleges, including the School of Hydraulic Engineering, the School of Electrical Engineering, the Department of Civil Engineering, the Department of Architecture and Environmental Engineering, the Department of Municipal Engineering, the Department of Automation Engineering, the Department of Computer Information Engineering, the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the School of Economics and Management, and the Department of Applied Foreign Languages (Department) and Marxism College, Mathematics, and Physical Education three teaching departments, opened 46 full-time vocational majors such as water conservancy and hydropower construction engineering, power plant equipment operation and maintenance, and cooperated with Guangdong Jiaying University and Guangdong Institute of Petrochemical Technology to open civil engineering (Basic engineering technology direction), NC equipment application and maintenance, 2 undergraduate majors, newly launched the “4 + 0” collaborative education pilot with Dongguan Polytechnic Institute; cooperated with Australia to cultivate construction engineering technology, architectural design technology specialty, application Double Diploma and Undergraduate in English (Hotel & Conference). The school has signed school-enterprise cooperation agreements with 357 domestic companies; it has conducted extensive exchanges and cooperation with the United States, Canada, Germany, Singapore, Taiwan and other countries and regions. In the past three years, the employment rate of graduates has exceeded 99%.
Guangdong Polytechnic of Water Resources and Electric Engineering has the Ministry of Water Resources’ “National Water Resources Industry Designated Training Institutions”, the Ministry of Labor and Social Security “Water Resources Industry-Specific Job Occupational Skills Appraisal Station”, and “National Computer Information High-tech Examination Station”. The Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the People ’s Republic of China is one of the institutions that implements the “training and training of skilled talents in the construction industry” project. The Provincial Department of Labor and Social Security approved the establishment of an “Occupational Skills Appraisal Office”. In 2014, the Department of Education and the Department of Water Resources approved the establishment of a “Guangdong Province Water Talent Education Base”.
