Guangxi Electrical Polytechnic Institute (广西电力职业技术学院, website) was founded in 1979. It was originally hosted by the Ministry of Electric Power Industry and headed by the Guangxi Electric Power Industry Bureau. It is now under the direct control of the Education Department of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The first batch of vocational college digital campus construction experimental schools and the first batch of characteristic colleges in Guangxi were the National Electric Power Vocational Education Teaching Guidance Committee and the Guangxi Power Grid Corporation to support the construction of high-level vocational colleges and professional schools with Chinese characteristics. The college is also a pilot institution of national modern apprenticeship system, the host of the national professional education resource library, the construction unit of the National University Mental Health Education Demonstration Center, the Guangxi Applied Undergraduate Talents and Educational Integration Training Pilot Institution, and Tsinghua University in Guangxi. The first higher vocational college of the mixed teaching reform was the only higher vocational college in China issued by the China Electricity Enterprise Federation in the power industry thermal power and transformer simulation training base.

Guangxi Electrical Polytechnic Institute currently has three campuses. The headquarters campus is located in the core area of Nanning High-tech Zone. The new campus under construction is located in Wuxiang New District, a national-level new district.
