Introduction to Guangxi University of Finance and Economics

Guangxi University of Finance and Economics (广西财经学院, website) was established in 2004. It was formed by the merger of the former Guangxi College of Finance and Guangxi College of Commerce, and is a general undergraduate college in finance and economics focused on by the People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The school passed the undergraduate teaching qualification assessment in 2010, and became a master training unit in accounting for “special needs of the country” in 2011. In 2012, it became the “China-ASEAN Finance and Taxation Talent Training Center” awarded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Education, 2013. In 2014, it became the project construction unit for universities in Guangxi characteristics. In 2014, it was identified as the first batch of “2011 Collaborative Innovation Center” in Guangxi universities. In 2016, it was approved by the Ministry of Education for application-oriented undergraduate construction projects and “Economic and Management Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center”. The Teaching Demonstration Center became the first batch of demonstration colleges in the country to deepen innovation and entrepreneurship education reform in 2017, and became the first-class discipline (cultivation) construction unit in Guangxi in 2018, and successfully completed the undergraduate teaching review and evaluation with excellent results.

Guangxi University of Finance and Economics now has 13 colleges, 1 teaching department, 52 undergraduate majors, and 1 master’s degree authorization. 21,472 full-time undergraduates, graduate students, junior college students, and international students, of whom 17,127 are undergraduates. Undergraduates account for 79.76% of full-time students.

Guangxi University of Finance and Economics currently has 1,290 full-time faculty members, of whom 480 are associate senior titles or above and 356 have doctorates. Guangxi University of Finance and Economics has established 8 national projects and 54 provincial projects for various undergraduate teaching projects. Among them, there are 1 national-level talent training model innovation experimental zone, 2 national-level specialty programs, 1 national-level comprehensive reform pilot project, 1 national-level experimental teaching demonstration center, and 1 national-level college student off-campus practical education base construction project. 1 national video public course, 1 national bilingual teaching demonstration course; 2 provincial-level talent training and innovation experimental areas, 1 provincial-level inadequate talent professional construction project, 30 provincial-level specialty programs (groups), provincial 1 level virtual simulation experiment center, 4 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers, 3 provincial excellent video public courses, 13 provincial excellent courses. Won two national education reform projects and 249 provincial teaching reform projects; won one second prize of national teaching achievement, 11 first prize of provincial teaching achievement, 11 second prize, 12 third prize, provincial 3 innovation and entrepreneurship teaching achievement awards; more than 150 awards in various national college competitions, including China’s “Internet +” university student innovation and entrepreneurship competition, “Challenge Cup” national extra-curricular academic science and technology works competition, and Chinese college entrepreneurship plan competition.

Guangxi University of Finance and Economics has established a disciplinary system that mainly focuses on economics and management disciplines, with a coordinated development of economics, management, science, engineering, literature, law, and arts, and applied economics to the construction of first-class disciplines (cultivation) in Guangxi Disciplines, 11 second-level disciplines such as economics, finance, finance, and accounting have been identified as key disciplines or distinctively advantageous disciplines in Guangxi universities; they are the master’s degree awarding units for project construction in Guangxi. There are 1 autonomous region key laboratory, 4 autonomous region-level think tanks, 1 Guangxi university key laboratory, 4 humanities and social science key research bases (2019-2023); in the past 5 years, the university has hosted 950 scientific research projects, including the state 67 projects at the provincial level and 169 at the provincial and ministerial levels. They have obtained 3 major and key projects from the National Social Science Fund. The number of national social science fund projects ranks among the top four universities in the region. The total scientific research funding is 85.58726 million yuan. In the past 4 years (2015-2018), he has published high-level research results in authoritative journals such as Economic Research, Management World, Chinese Science, and SCI1 District, and published 1,457 academic papers, including SCI and EI. And ISTP included 96 articles; 685 items of various intellectual property rights were authorized; 39 items of provincial and ministerial scientific research awards.

Guangxi University of Finance and Economics has established inter-school cooperative relations with more than 50 universities and educational institutions in foreign countries, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and has frequent exchanges with universities in ASEAN countries. There are 2 Chinese-foreign cooperative education programs and 1 ACCA test center. The university campus covers an area of over 2,400 acres (among which the Wuming campus is under construction). The building area of the school building is 661,200 square meters. The total value of fixed assets is 1.089 billion yuan, and the asset value of teaching and research equipment is 229 million yuan. The library has a building area of 43,500 square meters, a collection of 3.938 million books and electronic books, and 55 Chinese and foreign databases.
