Guangxi Vocational College of Water Resources and Electric Power (广西水利电力职业技术学院, website) is located in Nanning, China’s Green City, a civilized city in the country, and the capital of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. An innovative higher vocational college that integrates humanities majors.
The college was founded in 1956 and was originally named Nanning Water Conservancy School. In 1970, it was renamed Guangxi Hydropower School. In 2002, it was upgraded to Guangxi Vocational College of Water Resources and Electric Power. The college is a national backbone higher vocational college, a national water conservancy higher vocational education demonstration college, a Guangxi demonstration higher vocational college, and a Guangxi vocational education breakthrough demonstration higher vocational college. In 2018, it was awarded by the Ministry of Water Resources as a national high-quality water conservancy higher vocational college construction unit and a national high-quality water conservancy professional construction site. In the same year, it was approved as the third batch of the Ministry of Education and the first batch of modern apprenticeship pilot units in the autonomous region. In 2019, it was approved as a high-level vocational school and a high-level professional construction unit in Guangxi.
Guangxi Vocational College of Water Resources and Electric Power has a team of 443 full-time teachers consisting of 2 doctoral supervisors, 7 PhDs, etc., of which 202 are masters or above, and 145 are senior titles. It has 7 national teachers of water conservancy education, 2 outstanding teaching teams in the autonomous region, 2 teaching teachers, and 3 outstanding teachers. In October 2003, it was identified as a third-level safety training institution by the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Work Safety Supervision Administration. In December 2004, it established the National Vocational Skill Appraisal Office. In May, the college was identified by the Southern Electricity Regulatory Commission of the State Electricity Regulatory Commission as an electrician’s network access permit processing point, a theoretical test point, and a practical test point.
The college occupies a total area of about 1100.13 acres and is divided into two campuses, Changying and Lijian, with a total building area of 362,187 square meters. The campus has a beautiful environment, a strong professional atmosphere, and advanced educational facilities. The college deepens the vocational education reform, vigorously promotes the pilot work of joint training of secondary and higher vocational schools, and establishes two joint high-vocational school-run schools in Guangxi Science and Technology Advanced Vocational Technical School and Guangxi Yulin Agricultural School to achieve high-quality development of joint training of higher vocational schools.
