Introduction to Guizhou University of Finance and Economics
Guizhou University of Finance and Economics (贵州财经大学, website) was founded in 1958, and it is a training base for economic management talents of Guizhou Province, which is the key construction of Guizhou Provincial Party Committee and Government. The university has trained more than 80,000 outstanding personnel for the country and society, and has made positive contributions to regional economic and social development, especially the development of China’s securities industry.
The university currently has two campuses, Huaxi and Luchongguan, of which the main campus is located in Huaxi University Town, a new national development zone—Gui’an New District. The school covers a total area of 5,029 acres, a total construction area of 940,530 square meters, a total fixed asset value of 396 million yuan, a library of more than 2.36 million printed books, 1.6 million electronic books, and more than 36,000 electronic journals.
Guizhou University of Finance and Economics hosted a big data statistics college co-organized by the National Bureau of Statistics and the People’s Government of Guizhou Province. There are 18 colleges (departments), including an open Guiyang Big Data Finance College, and a Chinese-foreign cooperatively-run school that does not have legal personality, the Western Michigan College. There are currently more than 22,000 full-time students, including more than 19,000 undergraduates, 2067 graduate students, and 65 international students. There are 1959 faculty members, 1250 full-time teachers, including 842 senior titles, 566 doctoral degree holders, 21 doctoral supervisors, 4 experts who enjoy special government allowances from the State Council, 10 experts who enjoy special government allowances from the provincial government, and Guizhou Province 12 management experts, 2 core experts, 2 Qianling scholars, 6 provincial teaching teachers, 1 national excellent teacher, 16 visiting scholars of “Light of the West”; Guizhou Province’s high-level innovative talents “hundred” level 2 people, 12 high-level innovative talents in Guizhou Province. It has won 1 new type think tank created by the National Association of Social Sciences and 1 new type think tank with provincial characteristics.
Guizhou University of Finance and Economics has 1 post-doctoral research station, 2 first-level disciplines authorized by doctoral degree, 9 first-level disciplines authorized by master’s degree, 12 master’s degree authorized professional categories, 6 first-class construction disciplines in the region, 6 Provincial key disciplines, 10 provincial key disciplines. There are 64 undergraduate majors covering 8 disciplines, including: 6 national specialty majors, 9 provincial demonstration majors, and 4 provincial specialty majors. There are 1 National Economic Management Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center, 1 National Economic Management Virtual Simulation Experimental Teaching Center, 1 National Talent Training Model Innovation Experimental Area, 3 Provincial Experimental Teaching Demonstration Centers, and 1 Provincial University Science Park One, one of the creative spaces included in the provincial creative space management. There are 23 professional construction projects of top universities in Guizhou Province, 2 top platform construction (cultivation) projects of top universities in Guizhou, 4 construction of teacher team construction (cultivation) of top universities in Guizhou, and curriculum construction (cultivation) of 3 top universities in Guizhou Project, 5 provincial teaching teams, 13 provincial excellent courses. It has formed a discipline and professional system with economics and management as the main body, law and engineering as the support, literature and science as the basis, and education and art as the supplement.
Guizhou University of Finance and Economics adheres to the service orientation of “based on Guizhou, faces the southwest, and radiates the country”, attaches importance to platform construction and scientific research services, and now has 4 provincial key laboratories, 2 provincial collaborative innovation centers, and provincial talents. 7 training and training bases, 1 provincial engineering research center, 5 provincial innovation teams, 5 provincial research centers (institutes). Set up 42 scientific research institutions, and initially formed the characteristic research fields and talent training characteristics of green development, anti-poverty, ecological economy, mountain economy, economic history, and rural finance. “Journal of Guizhou University of Finance and Economics” was selected as an overview of the core Chinese journals, the Chinese Social Science Citation Index (CSSCI), the core of Chinese Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences A, and the important reprinted source materials of the National People’s Congress.
Guizhou University of Finance and Economics has established research and teaching partnerships with Central University of Finance and Economics, Nanjing University and other universities; with Plekhanov University of Russia, Trisak Tourism Institute of Indonesia, University of Huddersfield, University of Macau, Universities such as Sunan Larry University of Technology in Thailand cooperate in teacher training and teacher exchange. Cooperate with Danube Metropolitan University of Hungary, Uruguay Ot University, Uniidas International University Malaysia, Raman University, Royal Kanchanaburi University of Thailand, Royal Sisaket University, and Japanese Yamato Language School to carry out short-term exchange projects for scientific research and international students; and The Guizhou Chamber of Commerce in Mozambique has established a strategic partnership. The West Michigan College of Guizhou University of Finance and Economics, co-organized with the University of Western Michigan, USA, is the first undergraduate Chinese-foreign cooperative education institution in Guizhou Province; it has organized 2 undergraduate Chinese-foreign cooperative education programs with the University of Edinburgh in the United Kingdom and Marshall University in the United States; Berkeley College has co-organized 4 Chinese-foreign cooperative education programs; co-organized 4 International Undergraduate Academic Mutual Recognition Programs (ISEC) programs with the National Scholarship Fund Management Committee; and currently has 5,328 co-operative undergraduate students. An unscheduled full-time higher international vocational education program was launched, with 2,975 students at school. Actively participated in the spread of Chinese culture and international promotion of Chinese, and established a Confucius Institute in cooperation with the African Eritrean government.
