Hangzhou Wanxiang Polytechnic (杭州万向职业技术学院, website) is a full-time higher vocational and technical college established with the approval of the People’s Government of Zhejiang Province and co-organized by the Hangzhou People’s Government and the well-known enterprise Wanxiang Group, with the full support of a team of overseas experts.

Hangzhou Wanxiang Polytechnic is located in Hangzhou, which is known as a paradise on earth. It is located in the Xixi Valley, which is the focus of Hangzhou city construction. It is adjacent to Xixi National Wetland Park. The college has 3 campuses. The new campus with both Jiangnan characteristics and international flavor was put into use in September 2012. The campus covers a total area of 262 acres and a total construction area of 190,000 square meters.

It is the academy’s mission to become an international university. The Hong Kong Polytechnic University has a large team of experts. Since 2007, it has fully supported our school’s teaching quality, student development and administrative services. Starting from the 2015 academic year, in order to cooperate with diversified professional development reforms and prepare for the opening of undergraduate courses, our college has invited a number of internationally renowned university experts, scholars and experts in principles to form a stronger international advisory group to further promote the connotation construction and teaching of the college improve management and administrative services, while strengthening the internationalization of student whole person development activities.

Wanxiang Group has invested 100 million yuan in the Education Fund since 2012 to set up the “Wanxiang Education Fund”, which is used to subsidize outstanding faculty members for master and doctoral courses and short-term professional training, and reward teachers with outstanding performance and contributions. Staff, academic departments and administrative departments to enhance the content and strength of the college, teaching and research, brand and image. Among them, there are 3 to 4 million yuan each year to support the development of students: the outstanding graduates of overseas graduates are given a maximum of 300,000 yuan in scholarships; the outstanding graduates of domestic graduates are given 24,000 yuan each in education; 60 are selected each year ~ 100 outstanding students participated in summer study abroad in the United States, Britain, Singapore, Hong Kong, etc. The cost was funded by the fund; the fund also invested 200,000 yuan each year to fund student self-employment projects.

In order to meet the needs of the transformation and upgrading of economic and social development in Hangzhou, Zhejiang and the Yangtze River Delta, Hangzhou Wanxiang Polytechnic has advanced manufacturing and transportation departments (professional groups), modern service and management departments (professional groups), and health and modern agriculture (Professional group) and general education department (course group), set up 15 higher vocational majors (including professional direction). There are currently more than 6,000 students.

Hangzhou Wanxiang Polytechnic has 340 faculty members, of whom 206 are full-time teachers. Among the full-time teachers, 63 have senior titles, accounting for 30.6%; 140 have master’s and doctoral degree teachers, accounting for 67.9%; and 140 teachers have “double-qualified” teachers, accounting for 68.0% of full-time teachers. And has a provincial outstanding teaching team, 3 provincial outstanding teachers, 12 provincial professional leaders, 5 provincial rookies, 1 outstanding innovation team, 11 outstanding teachers in the city. In order to improve the teaching level of teachers, since 2006, the college has arranged full-time teachers to Hong Kong Polytechnic University every year or hire experts from Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong Institute of Education, Macau University of Science and Technology to conduct modern teaching method training. At present, the college has fully implemented the “student-oriented, effectiveness-oriented” interactive teaching method, which has greatly enhanced students’ learning interest and learning effectiveness.

The college has 2 provincial-level specialty construction majors, 4 provincial-level specialty construction majors, and 5 municipal-level specialty (emphasis) construction majors; 1 vocational education training base supported by the central government, and provincial-level demonstration (emphasis) construction training. 6 bases, 5 municipal-level key construction training bases; 2 State-level Education Directors ’Courses, 9 provincial-level courses (online-quality courses), 20 municipal-level courses; 10 provincial key construction teaching materials; 30 provincial-level education reform projects (including the new century education and teaching reform project, the provincial higher education teaching reform project, the classroom teaching reform project, and the 13th five-year teaching reform project). Won 2 first prizes of Zhejiang Province Higher Education Teaching Achievement Award.

The college’s paper collection is 522,000 volumes, and the total value of teaching instruments and equipment is 64.291 million yuan. The college has 25 on-campus training bases (centers), 104 training rooms (districts), 163 training bases jointly established by schools and enterprises, and a national vocational skills appraisal institute. The “double certificate” has created favorable conditions for vocational skills training and identification.

Since 2011, the college has undertaken the first Chinese-US dollar program “100,000 Students Studying in China”, and by 2018 it has received 1 272 US teachers and students from 53 study groups. Students can have one-on-one exchanges with students from prestigious universities such as Northwestern University and the University of Chicago. At the same time, in order to improve the quality of teaching and teachers, the college sends many teachers and management backbones to Hong Kong, Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States to conduct benchmarking surveys each year; dozens of exchange students are sent to the United Kingdom, Singapore, Hong Kong and other places to study each year. And accept students from Singapore and other places to visit our school. In the past two years, our college has attracted more than 10 overseas universities, including Purdue University, California State University, Lincoln University of New Zealand, and so on.

In the Graduate Tracking Survey sponsored by the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Education, launched in 2014, the college’s graduates’ employment rate, employment quality, job competence and entrepreneurial prospects, satisfaction with their alma mater, and employer satisfaction are five dimensions for four consecutive years. Comprehensive evaluation in Zhejiang Province ranked first in private vocational colleges. Among them, the “2015 Zhejiang University Graduates’ Career Development Status and Talent Cultivation Quality Survey Report” shows that among the 47 vocational colleges in the province, the college ranks 4th in professional competence and entrepreneurial prospects, and 9th in employment quality.

Hangzhou Wanxiang Polytechnic provides an effective platform for students to show their talents. In recent years, students have won awards in scientific and technological innovation, stylistic competitions, skills demonstrations and other activities, which fully demonstrated the strong strength and good spirit of our college students. In the past three years, students have participated in various skill competitions and won a total of 185 provincial or higher awards.
