Introduction to Hexi University
Hexi University (河西学院, website) is a general undergraduate university in Gansu Province, Fudan University identified by the Ministry of Education as a counterpart to support western universities, a pilot institution for reform of the Ministry of Education’s outstanding agricultural and forestry education and training plan, an advanced unit for spiritual civilization construction, and a national training base for nursing professionals. Hexi University is located in Zhangye City, a national historical and cultural city in the middle of the Hexi Corridor in the golden section of the Silk Road. It is the only comprehensive undergraduate college in the area of nearly 2000 kilometers from Lanzhou to Urumqi. And Xinjiang, Qinghai, Inner Mongolia, and Ningxia, four ethnic minority provinces and regions, have an important strategic position, unique geographical advantages, rich natural resources, deep cultural endowments, and broad space for running and educating people.
Hexi University originated from the Gansu Provincial Zhangye Teachers College established in 1941; Zhangye Teachers College was established in 1958; Zhangye Teachers College was reorganized in 1959; Zhangye Teachers College was adjusted in 1962; Zhangye Teachers College was restored in 1978; Renamed Zhangye Teachers College; merged into the former Zhangye Agricultural School and Zhangye Regional Vocational College in 2000; restructured into Hexi College in 2001; formerly Zhangye Medical College and Zhangye People’s Hospital merged into Hexi College in 2014 to form a new Hexi University; has accumulated more than 100,000 graduates in more than 70 years.
Hexi University covers a total area of nearly 4,000 acres, the school building covers an area of 500,000 square meters, the total value of fixed assets is 1.3 billion yuan, the total value of experimental equipment is 160 million yuan, the library has 1.2 million printed books, and 1.1 million electronic books; the school owns The province has the best academic centers, artistic creativity centers, teacher development centers and other modern facilities.
