The International College of Renmin University of China (Suzhou Research Institute) was officially established in September 2007, and the opening ceremony for the first full-time students was held on September 6, 2009.
The International College (Suzhou Research Institute) is a high-level, international teaching and research institution jointly established by Renmin University of China and Suzhou Municipal People’s Government under new historical conditions, and is committed to becoming a teaching and research base, international cooperation platform, high-end training center, and innovative R&D park of Renmin University of China in East China.
The School of International Studies (Suzhou Research Institute) mainly admits master students in Master of Chinese International Education and Master of Finance (Risk Management), in addition to doctoral students. The School has extensive international cooperation and exchange, and has close relations with top foreign universities such as KEDGE Business School, Paris IV University, and George Washington University in the United States. The University also has various international cooperation programs such as the Master of Finance program of George Washington University.
On September 4, 2012, Renmin University of China officially established Suzhou Campus and set up a management committee, which is responsible for the management of the International College (Suzhou Research Institute), the Chinese Law School, the Silk Road College and other teaching and research institutions. Mr. Lin Shangli, President of Renmin University of China, is the Director of the Suzhou Campus Management Committee; Mr. Du Peng, Vice President of Renmin University of China, is the Vice Director of the Suzhou Campus Management Committee and the Dean of the Silk Road Institute; Mr. Wang Xiaohu, Vice Director of the Suzhou Campus Management Committee, is also the Dean of the International College and the Dean of the Chinese Law School; Mr. Wu Cong is the Secretary of the Suzhou Campus Party Committee.
Suzhou Campus has research institutions such as the Institute of French and Francophone Studies, the Center for Globalization Studies, the Institute of Climate Change and Low Carbon Economy, the Southern Base of the Collaborative Innovation Center for Food Safety Governance, and the Institute of Technical Trade Measures.
Suzhou Campus is an important part of the overall development of Renmin University of China and a new growth point; it is the window of Renmin University’s internationalization; it is an experimental base for international orientation, exploring Sino-foreign cooperation and cultivating high-end talents; it is an important platform for international expansion and enhancement of advantageous disciplines. At present, Suzhou Campus is striving to fulfill its historical mission of serving the regional socio-economic and cultural development, serving the prosperity of philosophy and social sciences, and contributing to the construction of Renmin University of China as a “people-satisfied, world-class” university.
