Kunming Railway Vocational and Technical College (昆明铁道职业技术学院, website) is a predecessor of Kunming Railway Mechanical School, which was founded in 1958. After years of changes, it has been renamed several times, reorganized several times, and moved forward. It has transported a large number of talents for railways and urban rail transit in Yunnan and the country. The academy was established in April 2016 and started a new journey of development. The college is a public college-level general vocational college hosted by the Kunming Municipal People’s Government and business guidance of the Education Department of Yunnan Province. It specializes in training high-quality technical and technical personnel in railway and urban rail transportation.

The college is located in the Kunming Economic and Technological Development Zone, covering an area of 300 acres, with a building area of more than 120,000 square meters and fixed assets of more than 300 million yuan. The library has more than 250,000 volumes.
