Lanzhou Petrochemical Polytechnic (兰州石化职业技术学院, website) was formerly established in 1956 as the Lanzhou Petroleum School of the Ministry of Petroleum and Lanzhou Chemical School of the Ministry of Chemical Industry, as well as Lanlian Workers College and Lanhua Workers College. In 1984, it was directly affiliated to Sinopec Corporation. In 1999, it was converted into Lanzhou Petrochemical Vocational and Technical College with the approval of the Ministry of Education. It was the first independent higher vocational technical college in Gansu Province. In 2000, it was placed under the management of Gansu Province. It was approved in 2005.
