Introduction to Guangxi Technological College of Machinery and Electricity

Nanning College for Vocational Technology (南宁职业技术学院, website), formerly known as Nanning Vocational University, was founded in 1984. It is a full-time comprehensive higher vocational college organized by the Nanning Municipal People’s Government and co-constructed by the autonomous region and Nanning. In November 2009, the school passed the demonstration construction acceptance of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance, and became the first batch of 28 in the country and the first national model vocational college in Guangxi. In December 2019, it was successfully selected as a high-level vocational school construction unit with Chinese characteristics and is the only higher vocational college selected in Guangxi.

Since 2016, the school has been selected as “Top 50 Influential Vocational Colleges in Asia-Pacific”, “Top 50 National Higher Vocational College Teaching Resources” and “National High-quality Vocational Colleges”, and has been awarded the first batch of “National Model Construction Party Branch”, Guangxi’s “three completes” training class A project model colleges and “innovative talent training bases in China’s high-tech zones” have achieved fruitful results.

Nanning College for Vocational Technology covers an area of more than 1,600 acres, with a building area of over 500,000 square meters. It has 10 secondary colleges, more than 50 majors, more than 18,000 full-time vocational students, and more than 3,000 adults continuing education .

Nanning College for Vocational Technology has built a high-level teaching team led by the national outstanding teaching team, which is a combination of college and professional. There are nearly 900 faculty members, of which 61% are master’s degrees or above, and 31% are senior titles. There are 205 high-level talents at various levels above Nanning, including 1 expert who enjoys special government allowances from the State Council, 1 national teaching teacher, 1 national teaching teacher of the “Ten Thousand Talents Program”, and 1 Huang Yanpei vocational education award outstanding teacher. 2 national model teachers, 1 national outstanding teacher, 1 Guangxi outstanding expert, 1 Bagui teacher, 4 autonomous teaching teacher, 1 autonomous teacher, 1 Guangxi talented person engineering candidate, Guangxi high school excellence 1 scholar, 1 Guangxi intellectual property (patent) leader. It has one national-level teaching team, seven autonomous-level teaching teams, one high-level innovation team in Guangxi colleges and universities, and one autonomous-level skill master studio. The school has been identified as a small highland construction unit for higher vocational education talents in Nanning.

The school follows the industrial layout and structural adjustment of Guangxi, especially the Beibu Gulf Economic Zone, to build a professional system. Taking the two high-level professional groups of architectural interior design and software technology as the leader, it will drive 7 professional groups such as industrial robots and hotel management to create innovative technical skills personnel training grounds. The school has national specialty majors: interior design technology; major national demonstration majors: mechatronics, hotel management, logistics management, interior design technology, applied Thai language, and software technology. Selected as the first batch of 1 + X certificate system pilot universities in the country, with 4 national modern apprenticeship pilot programs.

Nanning College for Vocational Technology has 3 national-level teaching achievement awards, 9 national-level quality courses, and 7 national-quality resource-sharing courses, accounting for nearly one-third of the quality resource-sharing courses established in Guangxi higher vocational education.

The school actively explores joint undergraduate education with undergraduate colleges. Signed a joint training agreement with Guilin University of Electronic Technology for high-end applied undergraduate talents; signed an undergraduate education agreement with Guangxi Teachers College for county-level secondary school teacher orientation training programs.

The school has been integrated with world-renowned companies and leading companies in Nanning, and has established 4 industrial characteristic colleges, including Nanning Foxconn College, Artificial Intelligence College, and Sino-German Dual-Industry Industry College. Vocational education groups were selected as pilot institutions of modern apprenticeship by the Ministry of Education.

Nanning College for Vocational Technology has 47 on-campus training bases and 189 off-campus training rooms with a total value of 255 million yuan. Established the “Ten Million Projects” professional project in six autonomous regions, with a number of world-leading training centers including the Foxconn Nanning Science and Technology Park training production line, GE intelligent platform automation system application training room, and the first ABB industrial robot innovation application center in the southwest.

In December 2018, the largest public training base in Guangxi for vocational skills with a total investment of 1 billion yuan was settled in the school in the southwest, and five advanced training centers including modern control, modern electronic information, and modern manufacturing were added to expand the school’s school space.

The school insists on opening schools, signed inter-school cooperation agreements with more than 10 colleges and universities in ASEAN countries, established counterpart support relationships with more than 20 higher vocational colleges in the region, and established cooperative relationships with more than 230 industry leaders and leading enterprises.

In recent years, the employment rate of graduates has been above 90%. Since the establishment of the school, more than 100,000 highly-skilled application-oriented talents have been delivered to the society, which has provided strong talent support for regional economic construction and social development.

Over the years, the development of Nanning College for Vocational Technology has received strong support from leaders at all levels of the Ministry of Education, the autonomous region, Nanning, governments at all levels, and all sectors of society, laying a solid foundation for the rapid, healthy and sustainable development of the school. In November 2016, Sun Chunlan, currently the Deputy Prime Minister of the State Council and then the head of the United Front Work Department, visited the school and praised the school’s good schooling philosophy, teaching mode, hardware facilities, student employment, and school quality.
