About Company

Ningbo British International School (NBIS) is one of a group of schools which together form the Zhejiang Wanli Education Group.

A dynamic and innovative organisation at the cutting edge of educational reform in China, the Wanli Education Group operates numerous institutions, including the world-class University of Nottingham Ningbo, and Ningbo British International School. Wanli Education Group provides cutting-edge educational opportunities for Chinese and international students from Kindergarten to University level.

Ningbo British International School is located in a brand new, independent, state-of-the-art campus with facilities of the highest quality.

From 2005-2016, NBIS used the Australian Curriculum ((ACARA) and was authorised by DECS, the South Australian Department of Education and Children’s Services. This was in keeping with the origins of the school and the needs of the then largely Australian expatriate community, providing an academically robust and creative programme for NBIS students.

In 2011, NBIS adopted the Cambridge Secondary Curriculum and was authorised as Cambridge Examination Centre CN625. It is one of a very few schools in Zhejiang Province to have worked with Cambridge for over 10 years. In March 2017, having surveyed the emerging educational landscape, the school also adopted the Cambridge Primary Curriculum. The school is now authorised by Cambridge International to deliver the Cambridge Primary and Secondary Curricula leading to IGCSE Examinations and A-Levels. Cambridge Assessment International Examinations are the gold-star providers of international education from Year 1 to Year 11. And success in A-Levels (Years 12-13) provides access to some of the best universities in the world.

The Leadership of Wanli Education Group and Ningbo British International School recognize the rapidly changing nature of education, and the requirements of students who are looking for a successful future. Both remain passionately devoted to providing the kind of learning experience that will ensure that every student has the opportunity to excel.

Our curriculum successfully aligns with curricula of many countries, so that international students returning to their home country are in no way educationally disadvantaged by their time in China. On the contrary, we find that many students are educationally advanced on returning ‘home’ and certainly, their experience in China is a major asset in terms of their global understanding and ability to cross cultural boundaries with relative ease.
