North China Institute of Science and Technology (华北科技学院, website) is a university directly under the Ministry of Emergency Management. The school’s predecessor was the branch of Beijing Coal Management Cadre College invested by the former Ministry of Coal Industry in 1984; it was restructured into the North China Mining College in 1993, and it is open for national admissions; in 1997, it was rated as the 27th National Model Higher Engineering General Project One of the key colleges for specialized colleges; upgraded to a regular undergraduate college in 2002, renamed North China Institute of Science and Technology; obtained a master’s degree in engineering engineering (safety engineering) in 2011; graduate qualification; in December 2016, the Degree Committee of the Hebei Provincial People’s Government determined Our school is the construction unit of the master’s degree awarding unit.

North China Institute of Science and Technology covers an area of 800 acres, with a construction area of more than 444,000 square meters. Modern educational technology is widely used in teaching, research and training. The school is a city node unit of China Education and Research Network. The library has a construction area of 26,000 square meters, a collection of more than 1.3 million paper books, 1,643.9 million electronic books, 1,227 Chinese and foreign newspapers and periodicals, and 26 databases of various Chinese and foreign languages. The VPN remote access service was opened. High-standard track and field stadiums, comprehensive gymnasiums, swimming pools, baskets, volleyball, tennis courts and other sports facilities are available, teaching and living facilities on campus are complete, and the service network is complete, forming a complete teaching and living system.

North China Institute of Science and Technology currently has more than 900 teachers, with professors and associate professors accounting for about 50% of the total number of teachers, and teachers with doctoral degrees and master’s degrees account for about 86% of the total number of teachers. The school has Hebei Academician Workstation. At present, the school employs 3 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and 1 foreign academician. It has 2 national candidates for the “hundred million” talent project in the new century, 6 people in the “New Century Excellent Talents Support Program” of the Ministry of Education, and the 5th National Safety Production Expert 7 people, 8 national experts in production safety emergency response, 1 teaching teacher in Hebei Province, 1 outstanding educator in Hebei Province, 2 teachers have won the honorary title of outstanding teachers in Hebei Province. Professor Yin Shangxian’s “Mine Water Disaster Mechanism and Early Warning Support System Innovation Team” received rolling support from the Ministry of Education’s “Innovation Team Development Plan”, and Professor Chen Xuexue’s team was selected as a national team of Huang Danian teachers.

The North China Institute of Science and Technology has formed a multi-disciplinary, multi-level, and multi-form schooling system that coexists with full-time undergraduate education, second bachelor’s degree education, dual bachelor’s degree education, professional degree graduate education, and international student education. There are 49 undergraduate majors in eight disciplines including engineering, science, literature, law, economics, management, education, and art. There are 2 key disciplines in Hebei Province, 3 key development disciplines in Hebei Province; 3 national specialty programs, 2 provincial brand specialty programs, and 3 pilot programs of the Ministry of Education’s “Outstanding Engineer Education Training Program”. One national engineering practice education center, four provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers, and one provincial education innovation highland. At present, there are nearly 17,000 full-time students, including 47 foreign students. The initial employment rate of graduates has always remained above 90%, and the admission rate for undergraduate graduates has remained stable at around 15%. In the past five years, students have won 263 national prizes including the China Robotics Competition.

The North China Institute of Science and Technology currently has 11 provincial and ministerial-level technology platforms, of which 8 are from the Ministry of Emergency Management and 3 are from Hebei Province. In the past three years, it has undertaken 23 projects of the National Natural Science and Social Science Fund and the National Key Research and Development Plan, and 53 provincial and ministerial vertical projects such as the Provincial Natural Science and Social Science Fund. It has won one second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award and 54 provincial and ministerial science and technology awards, which provides a strong support for the construction of special disciplines of school safety.

North China Institute of Science and Technology cooperates with more than 50 universities in more than 20 countries, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, Italy, and Latvia, to jointly train professionals through various forms. The school employs more than 40 foreign teachers and various foreign experts all year round. The China-Latvia “Belt and Road” academic exchange center is located in the school.
