Qingdao Ocean Shipping Mariners College (青岛远洋船员职业学院, website) is affiliated to China Ocean Shipping Group Co., Ltd., and education administration is affiliated to Shandong Province. It is a higher vocational college that recruits students nationwide. Established in 1976, the college is located in Shinan District, Qingdao, and was formerly known as Qingdao Maritime School. In 1980, with the approval of the Ministry of Communications, it was changed to an adult college and renamed as “Qingdao Ocean Marine Crew Training College”. Approved by the Ministry of Communications in 1983, it was renamed “Qingdao Ocean Shipping Crew College”. In 2010, it was approved by the Ministry of Education to be transformed into a general higher vocational college, and was renamed as “Qingdao Ocean Marine Vocational College”. In 2015, it successfully passed the inspection and acceptance of the construction project of Shandong Province’s skilled talents with special characteristics organized by the Education Department and Finance Department of Shandong Province. In the 43 years since its establishment, the institute has trained more than 60,000 talents for China’s ocean shipping industry.

Qingdao Ocean Shipping Mariners College covers an area of 544,000 square meters, a building area of 108,800 square meters, and a total fixed asset value of 175 million yuan. The first phase of the educational and scientific research area has a planned land area of more than 700 acres and a planned building area of more than 230,000 square meters.
