Introduction to Quanzhou University of Information Engineering

Quanzhou University of Information Engineering (泉州信息工程学院, website) is a full-time applied undergraduate university approved by the China Education Ministry.

The school is located in the center of the Quanzhou city, the first national historical and cultural city, the city of East Asian Culture, the starting point of Maritime Silk Road. It is surrounded by beautiful scenery like Fujian-Taiwan Kinship Museum, Quanzhou museum and West Lake Park. It is like a garden with various trees everywhere,which is regarded as the most beautiful green unit in Quanzhou.
The school adheres to the principle of “facing the industry and serving the local economy”. It majors in engineering, focuses on economy management and creative design, features in equipment manufacturing, electronic information and software technology, and develops in a coordinated way in multiple disciplines. There are eight main teaching units: School of Electronics and Communication Engineering, School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, School of software, School of Creative Design, School of Economy and Management, School of Civil Engineering College, School of International Education and General Education Center.
The school adheres to the mission of non-profit, the motto of “Knowledge and action as one”, and the principle of “moral makes a man and quality makes a school”. It strives to build the innovative talent training platform to carry out the combination of learning and practicing, integrate innovation and entrepreneurship education into the whole process of talent training, and cultivate applied talents with solid theory foundation, strong practice ability, good sense of innovation and high personal quality.

There are one ICT production and education innovation base with the cooperation between Ministry of education and ZTE, one academician workstation of Lu Bingheng, four key laboratories of Fujian Province, three engineering research centers, and two humanities and Social Sciences bases. We have co-constructed 11 training bases with enterprises supported by the central finance and provincial finance, one training base jointly built by model schools and enterprises, three experimental teaching demonstration centers of Fujian province, two virtual simulation experimental teaching centers of Fujian province and a batch of teaching laboratories and training bases such as Quanzhou intelligent manufacturing public training base. There are 12000 square meters of College Students’ Innovation and Entrepreneurship Park. The school is identified as one of the first batch of college students innovation park, the business incubator in Fujian for college graduates and the mass innovation space in Quanzhou City. In addition, there are 191 practical teaching bases outside campus built with the multiparty cooperation like German BOSCH Rexroth (Chinese) Co., Ltd. ZTE Co., Ltd. etc. There are also some self-built training centers in Quanzhou Jiangnan high tech Industrial Park, Xiamen software park and Quanzhou software park.

Recent years have witnessed remarkable achievement of our school in education. Six professional groups have formed in our school, two of which are demonstration application-oriented professional groups in Fujian Province, including 3 disciplines with characteristics, 3 disciplines with characteristics in service sector of Fujian Province, and 5 pilot majors of the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education. We have successively obtained a batch of teaching achievements, such as teaching team, scientific and technological innovation team, excellent specialty in Fujian Province, excellent course, characteristic specialty of service industry in Fujian Province, pilot specialty of innovation and entrepreneurship education reform, excellent resource sharing course, etc. We have won 2 second prizes of national teaching achievement, 2 special prizes, 1 first prize and 3 second prizes of Fujian teaching achievement. A total of 923 students participated in all kinds of national and provincial competitions and won 350 prizes. In the past three years, students have achieved good results in various competitions such as the “Internet +” and “Challenge Cup” etc. Among them, 165 projects have been awarded national and Fujian college students’ innovation and entrepreneurship training programs, and more than 170 have applied for invention patents, new patents and software copyrights. The school is also rated as the advanced unit for employment of graduates in Fujian province and the quality of talent cultivation has been widely praised by the society and employers. Its employment rate of graduates has remained above 98% for nearly 9 years. The school attaches great importance to international exchanges and cooperation between Fujian and Taiwan. It is the first batch of colleges and universities in Fujian to carry out the cooperation with Taiwan and has established cooperative exchanges with more than 10 universities in Taiwan. The school also pays attention to the introduction and sharing of high-quality international education and teaching resources. At present, it has cooperated with Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania to carry out the “Sino-Us 4+0 joint training double degree program (software engineering major)”, which has been officially enrolled with the approval of the Ministry of Education. It has cooperated with the University of Missouri to carry out the “Sino-US 3 + 1 + 1 master’s program”. It has cooperated with University of Pécs to carry out the “1+1+4 joint postgraduate program”. It has carried out the “green passage for international education” with a number of universities in Russia, Ukraine, Hungary and Spain, and the implementation has been smooth. The Sino-German (Fujian) education cooperation and development center was selected as the fourth national teacher training base in Fujian province by the Ministry of Education in 2018, following Xiamen University, Fujian Engineering College and Fujian Institute of Education.

Located in Quanzhou city, the school bears the mission to boost regional economy. With the goal of building a high-level application-oriented university with distinctive characteristics, the school will comprehensively improve its level of running schools and strive to create a more brilliant tomorrow.
