Introduction to Sanming University
Sanming University (三明学院, website) is a provincial-wide full-time undergraduate college established in May 2004 with the approval of the Ministry of Education. It implements a provincial-city and city-based management system. In June 2012, it passed the assessment of the undergraduate teaching work of the Ministry of Education. It is a demonstration application-oriented undergraduate college in Fujian Province, and the first batch of deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform model schools and master’s degree training units in Fujian Province. The predecessor of the school was Sanming College. It was established in October 2000 by the merger of Sanming Teachers College, Sanming Vocational University and Sanming Normal School.
Sanming University is located in Sanming City, Fujian Province. The campus covers an area of ??1,320 mu, with various building areas of about 385,700 square meters, including an area of ??teaching and administrative housing of 216,800 square meters and a student dormitory area of ??128,800 square meters. The collection of books is 4,724,400 (including 3,193,100 e-books). The total value of teaching and research equipment is 170,203,800 yuan.
There are 718 full-time teachers, including 78.97% of full-time teachers with master’s degrees or above and 14017 full-time students.
There are 11 secondary colleges and 41 undergraduate enrollment majors, covering 7 disciplines including engineering, science, literature, management, art, education, economics, etc. Multidisciplinary coordinated development of the discipline professional system. There are 4 provincial application-oriented disciplines, 6 provincial-level key disciplines, 1 national-level specialty, 12 provincial-level specialty programs, 7 provincial-level service industry specialty programs, and 4 provincial-level outstanding talent training programs.
Actively promote foreign exchanges and cooperation. Sanming University is a provincial education department’s cooperation project, a Chinese-foreign cooperative project school of the Ministry of Education, and a foreign student school. It has signed cooperation and exchange agreements with 17 universities in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao, including Taiwan University of Science and Technology, Taiwan Central University, Hong Kong Institute of Advanced Science and Technology Education, and Macao University of Science and Technology, and established partnerships with universities and institutions in the United States, Russia, Australia, Japan, and South Korea.
