Introduction to Shanghai Civil Aviation College

Shanghai Civil Aviation College (上海民航职业技术学院, website) originated from the Civil Aviation Shanghai Administration Technical School established in 1980 on the basis of the Civil Aviation Shanghai Administration Teaching Team. Approved by Shanghai in 1985, the Civil Aviation Shanghai Secondary Vocational School was established on the basis of the Civil Aviation Shanghai Administration Technical School, which belongs to the Civil Aviation Administration of China, while retaining the Technical School (the technical school was closed in 1998). In 2002, the Civil Aviation Shanghai Secondary Vocational School, as the southern campus of Shanghai Vocational College of Transportation, started an 11-year college-level diploma education. In May 2012, Shanghai Civil Aviation Vocational and Technical College was established on the basis of Civil Aviation Shanghai Secondary Vocational School. The college is an industry-oriented college dedicated to cultivating first-line high-quality, highly-skilled talents with a college education level and the first-line high-quality, highly-skilled personnel required to serve civil aviation and social development.

Shanghai Civil Aviation College has two campuses, Xuhui Campus (No. 1 Longhua West Road, Xuhui District, Shanghai) and Pudong Campus (No. 100 Xuehai Road, No. 28 Xuehai Road, Pudong New Area, Shanghai). The Xuhui campus is positioned as the college administrative center, part-time full-time diploma education (Department of Aviation Crew), continuing adult education (Ministry of Continuing Education), network data center, and civil aviation on-the-job training base; Pudong campus is positioned as full-time diploma education ( Department of Air Transport, Department of Aviation Maintenance, Department of Airport Management, Department of Aviation Manufacturing, Department of Basic Education), Sino-foreign cooperatively-run school base, professional training base and production-study-research training center with civil aviation characteristics. The college currently has about 400 faculty and staff and about 8,000 students. According to the requirements of the Civil Aviation Administration and its own development planning, by the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan, the number of students will reach 9,000-10,000.

Shanghai Civil Aviation College adheres to the positioning of application-oriented talents training, focuses on the specialty advantages of civil aviation, and is committed to advancing the development of connotative construction. At present, it specializes in civil aviation transportation, civil aviation transportation (civil aviation e-commerce), civil aviation transportation (air tourism services), Aviation Logistics, Airport Operations (Civil Aviation Airport Meteorological Observation), Airport Operations (Airport Management), Civil Aviation Safety Technology Management, Flight Attendance, Civil Aviation Security, Aircraft Mechanical and Electrical Equipment Maintenance, Aircraft Electronic Equipment Maintenance, Aircraft Manufacturing Technology, Aircraft Structure Repair, Aviation ground equipment maintenance, general aircraft maintenance (helicopter maintenance), aircraft mechanical and electrical equipment maintenance (Chinese-foreign cooperation in running schools), etc. Among them, the two majors of aircraft mechanical and electrical equipment maintenance and flight attendance are key construction majors at the municipal level of Shanghai. The courses “Principle and Structure of Aircraft Engines” and “Dangerous Goods Air Transport” are Shanghai municipal-level quality courses.

Shanghai Civil Aviation College has good conditions for running higher vocational education. The training facilities are equipped with advanced equipment and complete functions. It meets the requirements of the Civil Aviation Administration for on-the-job training equipment. Teachers from various majors have rich practical teaching experience. The college has multiple teaching aircraft and first-class professional training facilities. It is the first school in Shanghai to have both civil aircraft maintenance training (CCAR-147 Academy) and civil aircraft maintenance personnel license examination (CCAR-66 test center) qualifications. The school is also an authorized training organization of the China Air Transport Association and the International Air Transport Association.
