Shanghai Maritime Academy (上海海事职业技术学院, website) is an ordinary university that has been approved by the Shanghai Municipal Government and approved by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China. Its predecessor was a full-time adult university under the Ministry of Communications, which was established in 1978. In 2000, it was placed under the management of Shanghai according to the decision of the State Council. The college is affiliated to China Ocean Shipping Group Co., Ltd. and under the supervision of COSCO Shipping Management Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the group. The education business is directly led by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission. The college took the lead in piloting higher vocational and technical education as early as 1986, and is one of the institutions with the longest history of higher vocational and technical education in Shanghai. In March 2003, it was listed in the construction unit of Shanghai model higher vocational and technical colleges. In 2006, it was accepted by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission for the “level of talent training in higher vocational colleges”. It passed the re-evaluation and acceptance in 2008. The college accepted it again and passed the “Evaluation of Talent Training Work in Higher Vocational Colleges” organized by Shanghai Education Commission; in 2012, it was selected as the construction unit of Shanghai Higher Vocational Colleges and awarded by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security as “Outstanding National Talent Training” Contribution Award; “In 2016, it became one of the characteristic colleges in Shanghai Higher Vocational Colleges. The college has now developed into a higher vocational college that integrates academic education, adult education, crew training, and cadre training.

Shanghai Maritime Academy opens majors: The college has 5 teaching departments including the Department of Navigation Technology, the Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the Department of Shipping Management, the Ministry of Public Education, and the Training Center. 95%.

Shanghai Maritime Academy currently has a usable campus area of 49687㎡ and a building area of 39668.03㎡. Has teaching building, experimental building, information and graphic building, student dormitory building, outdoor sports field and other facilities; and has built seafarer career open training center, international shipping public training center, marine technology training center, marine engineering technology training center , Mechanical and Electrical Technology Training Center, etc. Among them, equipped with large-scale ship manipulation simulators, turbine simulators, simulation teaching ships, steering gear training room, GMDSS training room, LPG simulation training room, UNITOR Sino-Norwegian advanced welding training center, etc. Advanced training venue.

There are 131 faculty members in the college, among which 25.6% of the teachers have graduate degrees (degrees); 66% of young teachers have graduate degrees (degrees); 81.8% of teachers have high- and intermediate-level professional and technical positions; captains, chief engineers, etc. Various types of dual-teacher qualification teachers reached 72.1%.

Shanghai Maritime Academy was identified as a national key secondary professional school by the Ministry of Education in 2000, and was re-identified in 2004. It became a qualified unit for the acceptance of “Key Construction Projects of 100 Middle Vocational Schools in Shanghai” in the same year. Passed the Shanghai Education Commission evaluation again in the year. Shanghai Maritime School currently has 6 majors including ship sailor and mechanics, logistics, electronics and information technology, and application of electromechanical technology.

Approved by the Shanghai Education Commission, Shanghai Maritime Academy has a training center that specializes in various advanced education for adults, and is one of the largest crew training and training institutions in domestic nautical colleges. The types of training include basic safety training for seafarers, qualification training and special training for seafarers approved by the China Maritime Safety Administration, as well as other training programs for seafarers, with annual training of more than 10,000 crew members of various types. At present, there are 28 types of crew competence and certification training.
