Shanghai University of Engineering Science (上海工程技术大学, website) is a full-time ordinary university that develops in a coordinated and multi-disciplinary manner, including engineering technology, economic management, and art design. It is also a pilot construction units of “high-level local application-oriented universities” in Shanghai. In 2017, it was listed as the construction unit of doctoral degree awarding unit.
The predecessors of Shanghai University of Engineering Science were Shanghai Jiaotong University Mechanical and Electrical Branch, Shanghai Institute of Chemical Technology (incorporated to Shanghai Jiaotong University Mechanical and Electrical Branch in 1984) and Shanghai Textile Institute of Technology (renamed to East China Textile Institute in 1980). ). In 1985, Shanghai Engineering University was established on the basis of the above institutions. In 2003, Shanghai Advanced Technical School (founded in 1951) was integrated into Shanghai University of Engineering and Technology.
Shanghai University of Engineering Science has Songjiang, Changning, Hongkou and other campuses, covering an area of nearly 1,400 acres, with a total construction area of 480,000 square meters, total fixed assets of about 2.3 billion yuan, and teaching and scientific research equipment of about 800 million yuan. Shanghai University of Engineering Science is committed to deepening education and teaching reforms, innovating talent training models, and improving education quality. At present, it has 9 first-degree master degree authorization points, 3 master degree authorization degrees, 62 undergraduate majors (including professional directions), and nearly 22,000 full-time students, including about 3,200 postgraduates. Shanghai University of Engineering Science has 1 class III peak discipline in Shanghai, 1 class IV peak discipline, 11 provincial-level scientific research platforms such as collaborative innovation centers, R & D public service platforms, and engineering technology research centers, as well as advanced research institutes. In the past five years, the school has won a total of 139 National Natural Science Foundation projects, participated in 5 National Science and Technology Support Program projects, 41 National Social Science Foundation projects (including education and arts), and major research projects on philosophy and social sciences of the Ministry of Education. 1 item, 1 major project of the 13th Five-Year Plan of the National Development and Reform Commission, 2 national art fund projects, and 437 provincial and ministerial projects.
