Introduction to Shenyang City University

Shenyang City University (沈阳城市学院, website), formerly known as the School of Science and Engineering, Shenyang University, was established in 2001 and is the first independent college in the country. In September 2009, the school as a whole relocated to Shenyang Lvdao Forest Park and began independent schooling. In April 2012, the school obtained the right to grant a bachelor’s degree. In April 2013, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, it became a full-time private undergraduate college and was renamed Shenyang City College. In 2015, the school was listed by Liaoning Provincial Department of Education as one of the first experimental universities in Liaoning to transition to application.

Shenyang City University covers an area of 690,000 m2, with a total construction area of 268,000 m2, 1.03 million volumes of paper books, 1.23 million volumes of electronic books, and 5,570 types of electronic periodicals. In the landscape garden of the former Green Island Forest Park, the school has built a garden-style campus with complete teaching functions, advanced sports facilities, reasonable living layout and unique architectural style. The campus is backed by Phoenix Mountain and surrounds Green Island Lake. The environment is elegant and the scenery is pleasant. In 2016, the school was rated as the most beautiful university in China by Sina.com and was listed as the environmental education base of Shenyang in the same year.

Shenyang City University has 425 full-time teachers and 251 external teachers. Among its own full-time teachers, there are 160 teachers with titles of associate high school and above, 344 teachers with master’s degrees and above, and 237 “dual-teacher and dual-energy” teachers. Shenyang City University offers 36 undergraduate majors covering 7 disciplines of science, engineering, literature, law, economics, management, and arts, with 9,800 full-time undergraduate students. There are 3 first-class undergraduate education demonstration majors in Liaoning Province, 1 provincial-to-application transition demonstration major, 1 provincial-to-application transition pilot specialty, 2 provincial talent training innovation pilot areas, and provincial comprehensive reform pilot specialty. Two, three provincial key construction majors, five provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers, seven provincial out-of-school practice teaching bases, one international joint laboratory, and one municipal key laboratory.
