The Sichuan Conservatory of Music (四川音乐学院, website) was founded in 1939 as the “Sichuan Provincial Drama Education Experimental School”. It became more famous in 1959 and became one of the six professional music colleges with undergraduate education levels in China. The school has two campuses, Jinjiang and Xindu, with a total area of more than 1,200 acres, and has 29 teaching departments and 10 research institutions. The school level covers graduate education, undergraduate education, college education, adult education and middle school education. The number of students in the school is more than 16,000. It is one of 11 independent professional music colleges nationwide.

The school focuses on the disciplines of music and dance. The disciplines of art theory, drama and film science, fine arts and design have developed in a comprehensive and coordinated manner. The discipline construction has been continuously improved and the discipline layout has been continuously optimized. The existing national specialties are: composition and composition technology theory, music performance. Provincial specialties are: musicology, industrial design, painting, and dance. Provincial key disciplines are: composition, keyboard instruments, and painting.
