West Yunnan University of Applied Sciences (滇西应用技术大学, website) is the first batch of national universities of applied technology approved by the Ministry of Education in April 2015. In May 2017, the school was formally established with the approval of the Ministry of Education. Western Yunnan University, as a new type of general public undergraduate college, mainly cultivates applied high-level technical and technical talents urgently needed for regional economic and social development.
The West Yunnan University of Applied Sciences fully draws on the German and Swiss universities of applied technology, adopts an open school structure with headquarters and several characteristic colleges and applied technology research institutes (1 + N + M), as well as “political, industrial, academic, research, “Integrated schooling model”, in accordance with the principles of “layered governance, integration of production and education, demand-driven, cooperative schooling, open connection, and joint construction of provinces and ministries”, starting from the strategic needs of economic and social development in western Yunnan, focusing on undergraduate education, Integration of higher education, vocational education, and continuing education. Establish a training plan and curriculum system based on job vocational competence as the standard, and implement a “dual certificate” system of academic degree certificates and vocational qualification certificates.
West Yunnan University of Applied Sciences is headquartered in Dali, Dali Prefecture, Yunnan Province, with a planned land area of 329 mu and a total construction area of approximately 188,000 square meters. The first batch of three characteristic colleges were built: Pu’er College of Medicine (located in Jinghong City, Xishuangbanna Prefecture), Pu’er Tea College (located in Simao District, Pu’er City), and Jewellery College (located in Tengchong, Baoshan). Established. The school’s headquarters has established the Western Yunnan Finance Research Institute (co-constructed with Zhongnan University of Economics and Law and Hengfeng Bank), the Western Yunnan Vocational Education Research Center, and the characteristic colleges have established applied technology research centers.
West Yunnan University of Applied Sciences fully grafts the quality education resources of key universities directly under the “985” and “211” of the Ministry of Education. It has obtained Beijing Normal University, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, Northeast Normal University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Zhejiang University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, Sun Yat-Sen University, South China University of Technology, Yunnan University, Kunming University of Science and Technology, Yunnan Agricultural University, Dali University and other comprehensive support, with Pu’er Tea Group, Oriental Jinyu, The Yunnan Branch of the Institute of Medicinal Plants of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and many other scientific research institutes and industry companies cooperate in running schools, and conduct frequent visits to universities with many universities and colleges to achieve three-dimensional cultivation of high-level technical and technical personnel.
West Yunnan University of Applied Sciences has successfully completed 480 enrollment programs for six majors in rehabilitation therapy, general medicine, traditional Chinese medicine, tea science, gem and materials technology, and product design. 2017 students have now successfully transferred to various specialty colleges and started new Study in the school year. In 2018, the school added 7 undergraduate admissions majors (health service and management, marketing, logistics management, food science and engineering, plant science and technology, resource recycling science and engineering, leisure sports) and 3 specialty majors (arts and crafts Design, jewellery technology and management, leisure sports), the actual number of students enrolled was 957 (including 873 undergraduates and 84 junior colleges).
