Introduction to Wuhan City Polytechnic
Wuhan City Polytechnic (武汉城市职业学院, website) was originally founded in 1904 with the name of “Lianghu (now Hunan and Hubei provinces) General Normal School”, which started the modern normal education in Hunan and Hubei provinces. The new Wuhan City Polytechnic has been reformed by merging with Wuhan College of Industrial Technology in 2010. The two campus sites cover nearly 1180 acres with 17,000 enrolled students and 610 staff. Majors can generally be divided into five categories: Arts, Science, Engineering, Agriculture and Education. There are 12 departments and over 60 majors.
Over 100 years, the college has been well-known for its distinctive characteristics and high teaching quality. The college now acts on the concept of “Creating the city culture and serving the industrial civilization”. Until now, the college has trained high-quality professional talents working in primary schools, kindergartens, and in the areas of production, construction and management.
Wuhan City Polytechnic is the key teacher training base in Wuhan city and Hubei province, the developing and training base for skilled personnel and China Metallurgical Group Corporation. The college is also granted the training and appraisal qualifications from National Institute of Professional Skills Appraisal.
Oriented to the society, the college is devoted to the open education and cooperation with enterprises or universities home and abroad. It has established stable cooperation with several Global Top 500 Enterprises by executing the order (orientation) training mode. It has also signed up cooperative education agreements with several universities abroad. The “working-learning” talent training pattern, the “Double Certificates (academic degree and professional certificate)” curriculum system, and the “Teaching-Learning-Performing” teaching mode are widely applied in order to improve graduates’ adaptation to their future work. The employment rate remains above 95% and the graduates have gained widespread social acclaims and abundant praises from employers, for their excellent work ethics, high comprehensive qualities, and solid professional skills.
