Introduction to Wuhan Donghu University
Wuhan Donghu University (武汉东湖学院, website) is a full-time general undergraduate university approved by the Ministry of Education. Formerly the Donghu branch of Wuhan University, founded in 2000, it was one of the first four independent colleges in the country. In 2011, approved by the Ministry of Education, it was transferred and renamed Wuhan Donghu College.
The university is located on the bank of Tangxun Lake in Wuhan, the largest city lake in the country. There are dense subway buses around the campus and the traffic is convenient and unobstructed. The campus is lined with trees, the environment is elegant, the landscapes, bridges and pavilions are scattered, and the buildings are simple and elegant. It is one of the most beautiful university campuses in the country. The campus covers an area of 1496 acres, with a total construction area of 430,000 square meters. The total value of teaching equipment is nearly 130 million yuan, and there are more than 1.62 million paper books and 2.09 million e-books in the collection.
The university has 13 teaching colleges (departments), 45 undergraduate majors, and 36 junior majors, covering eight disciplines including economics, law, education, literature, science, engineering, management, and art. There are more than 16,000 full-time undergraduates, including more than 12,300 undergraduates.
The university has more than 840 full-time teachers, of which 46.4% are teachers with senior professional titles, and 87.8% are teachers with a master’s degree or above. Among them, there are 92 professors, 124 doctors, and 17 experts who enjoy special allowances from the State Council, experts with special allowances from the provincial government and 17 young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions at the provincial and ministerial level.
The university conducts extensive international and domestic cooperation and exchanges. With more than 30 universities in the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea and other countries, it has established various forms of international cooperation such as Sino-foreign cooperative education projects, inter-university joint education, and student exchange programs. Jointly train master students with Wuhan Textile University, Hubei University of Technology, Wuhan Engineering University, and Yangtze University.
