Xingyi Normal University for Nationalities (兴义民族师范学院, website) is based on the Bishan College, which was rebuilt in 1813, and has gone through historical periods such as the High School, Xingyi County Middle School, and Xingyi Middle School of Guizhou Province. After the founding of the PRC, it was changed to Xingyi Normal School of Guizhou Province in 1952, and the history of modern normal education began. In 1975, it was named “Five-Seven” Normal University in Xingyi Region. In 1978, it was renamed as Xingyi Teachers College. In 1982, it was renamed as the Qianxi Southwest Teachers College for Nationalities. In 2001, it co-organized with Guizhou Normal University to train undergraduates. In 2005, Xingyi Normal School and Anlong National Normal School were merged into the Southwest Guizhou National Teachers College, which expanded the scale of schooling. In March 2009, the school was officially upgraded to Xingyi Teachers College for Nationalities with the approval of the Ministry of Education. It is a local full-time undergraduate college that is “provincial and state co-constructed and mainly states”. In December 2016, the school passed the qualification assessment of undergraduate teaching in ordinary colleges and universities of the Ministry of Education, and was approved by the Guizhou Province Degree Committee to be newly added as a “13th Five-Year” master degree project construction unit.
