Yunnan National Defense Industry Vocational and Technical College (云南国防工业职业技术学院) was approved by the Yunnan Provincial People’s Government Document No. 200466 on July 1, 2004. The school has 5 campuses including Chenggong, Longquan, and World Expo, covering an area of more than 900 acres, with a total construction area of 270,000 square meters.
The college’s headquarters is located on Longquan Road, Kunming, covering an area of more than 100 acres. The campus is overcast with flowers and grass. The teaching building covers an area of 6,300 square meters and has more than 50 classrooms. The experimental building has an area of more than 5,000 square meters. It has a library and multimedia. There are 41 classrooms, voice labs, and laboratories in electronics, electrical engineering, electric drive, material mechanics, and chemical engineering.
Yunnan National Defense Industry Vocational and Technical College’s Expo Campus is located on Shibo Road, Kunming, adjacent to the Kunming World Horticultural Expo and the Golden Temple Scenic Area. It has a unique geographical advantage. The campus has a building area of over 20,000 square meters, and there are NC, machining, electrician, fitter, and practice workshops. Each campus is equipped with electric drag, chemical, electrical laboratories, multimedia classrooms, computer rooms, NC simulation rooms, physical training rooms and other teaching facility.
The Haikou Campus is the college’s practical training base. It is located in Haikou Town, Xishan District, Kunming City, adjacent to Dianchi Lake. It was integrated on the basis of the former Yunnan Ordnance Industry Workers College and the former Yunnan Ordnance Vocational College Xiyi Branch. The training base relies on Yunnan Northern Electronics Group Co., Ltd. and Yunnan Xiyi Industry Co., Ltd., and has independent teaching, living and equipment first-class internships. The practice workshop is known as the “cradle of Chinese optics”. The country’s largest R & D and processing base for optical precision instruments, Xiyi has strong design and manufacturing capabilities for precision machinery and industrial fixtures.
