The Department of Government and Public Administration of the Faculty of Social Sciences is inviting applications for the position of Associate/Assistant Professor in the discipline of public administration and public policy.

The Department of Government and Public Administration is currently comprised of 17 full-time staff members and offers programmes leading to Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD degrees. Faculty members actively engage in research with particular focus on public administration and policy, international relations, comparative politics, political economy, and studies of the greater China regions. The required area of specialization is public administration, broadly defined to include sub-areas of new/collaborative governance, smart city management, E-government, government/society interactions, big data and new technological innovation, governance in Greater China region, and other subjects related to policy-making and governance of public affairs. Appointment can be at Associate or Assistant Professor rank, depending on qualifications. Applicants must have a PhD in a relevant field and a proven record of publication in high caliber international journals and presses. Applicants should document excellence in high quality research and scholarship. They should also demonstrate strong commitment to teaching courses in new governance, public policy analysis, new technologies and innovations in governance, research methods in governance, etc. at both the graduate and undergraduate levels in English and preferably also in Chinese as the Department runs several Chinese-taught programmes and courses, particularly, the Master of Social Sciences programme in Public Administration and the professional Doctoral programme in Public Administration.

The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in August 2023.

A taxable annual remuneration starting MOP828,100 (approximately USD102,230) will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% – 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
