Background

The energy transition requires the development of new business opportunities for Shell, together with the development of new technologies and equipment-based solutions. An important part of this strategy is the assessment and development of CVPs and technologies to electrify current and future assets across industrial sectors. Electrification is one of the key enablers to achieve deep industrial decarbonization, next to other technologies such as CCS, biomass or H2.

Where do you fit in?
Under the VP Power Technology you will report to a Team leader in the GM E-Mobility Technology team. You will be part of an organization that promotes and supports the use of renewable electrical power to replace fossil based energy in industrial processes. The team includes a wide range of experts over the different areas of electrification and the various uses of renewable power to decarbonise industrial processes.

What is the role?

The E-Mobility Project Leader drives realisation of maximum commercial value from Shell proprietary, or 3rd Party, electrification technology through co-developing scalable commercial & business models that enable Shell to capture the most material parts of the integrated value chain. The role will initially lead E-Mobility Technology Projects in China in support of China commercial business functions AND support more global E-Mobility project enabled by access to Chinese technology and partners.

Delivering on those business models will require partnerships with OEMs, delivery parties and/or (digital) technology owners. A critical part of the Project Leader role is to leverage learning and capability from the Power Technology team AND to transfer knowledge, learning and insight from China.

Key interfaces will be with the China Sector & Decarbonization Mobility and Lubricants Businesses respectively, and the wider VP-Power Technology organization.

What we need from you?

  • Strong affinity and experience with deployment of new technology solutions in traditional and new market segments including experience in battery technology and/or heavy-duty mobility sectors or similar experience.
  • Deep understanding of the overall energy system from both the supply and consumer side, including how technology drives electrification trends, and market implications of technology adoption
  • Extensive experience in technology commercialization and business model innovation including familiarity with Business Case development.
  • Experience in contracting and managing IP for technical collaborations with third-parties including start-ups, universities, corporate research, research consortia, national labs, major technology companies etc. 
  • Capable of developing a broad internal and external network to stay abreast of the latest developments
  • Capable of effective and impactful communications across topics, audiences, and formats at all organizational levels
  • Customer centricity, as evidenced by product development & technology commercialization
  • An ability to deal with ambiguity, uncertainty and transformation, as this is a very dynamic new business area (for Shell) without established boundaries and with an above average amount of (organizational) growth and hence change
  • Enable Industry standards development with partners, mainly including understanding of related standards existing or to be developed; Identify the parts that could be disruptive to the industry; Experience of participating in, influencing or leading standard establishment is preferred.
  • Support market and technology intelligence gathering and analysis. Maintain review of related technologies, e.g. fast charging, industrial robotics, solid-state batteries, etc., Support business decisions of market entry in related areas from the value chain.
  • Understand the market trend of different related technology paths, able to propose and develop new CVP with business team leveraging technology expertise.
