Reporting to: Year Team Leader/Co-Head of ECE & Primary School
Purpose:
Under the guidance of the Co-Head, ensure high-quality teaching and learning, and meet high educational standards by professionally and sensitively addressing the needs of all students, demonstrating a deep understanding of the curriculum.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Curriculum Knowledge:
1) Proficient in the EYFS and/or Chinese Curriculum, including progression of skills and addressing misconceptions.
2) Familiar with curriculum and assessment guidelines.
2. Planning and Expectations:
Develop clear teaching objectives and plans that cater to all student needs, setting challenging but achievable expectations.
3. Teaching and Student Learning:
1) Deliver effective lessons to whole classes and individuals, using differentiated teaching methods.
2) Maintain a suitable pace and challenge to maximize student progress.
3) Engage students, stimulate intellectual curiosity, and promote critical thinking and problem-solving.
4) Set and maintain high expectations for student behavior and discipline.
4. Bilingual Teaching (if applicable):
Provide an effective bilingual learning environment, balancing Chinese and English languages.
5. Assessment and Evaluation:
1) Assess learning objectives effectively, using feedback to adapt teaching.
2) Use student tracking to identify learning gaps and measure performance for rigorous assessments.
3) Identify students with special needs or talents and implement targeted support, including IEPs.
6. Parent and Community Relations:
Prepare informative reports for parents and liaise with external agencies for student benefit.
7. Professional Development:
1) Take responsibility for continuous professional growth, staying updated with pedagogical developments.
2) Comply with school policies and set personal conduct examples for students.
3) Critically evaluate and improve teaching practices based on feedback.
8. Staff and Resource Management:
Build effective relationships with colleagues and manage resources, including ICT, to meet teaching objectives.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field.
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) certification.
Curriculum Knowledge:
Comprehensive understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (EYFS) and/or Chinese Curriculum.
Professional Skills:
Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
Advanced oral and written communication skills.
Teamwork and Adaptability:
Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
Capacity to perform effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
Teaching and Assessment:
Experience with student tracking and data analysis to enhance learning outcomes.
Proficiency in creating a bilingual (Chinese/English) learning environment for Chinese first language students.
