Wuxi Dipont School of Arts and Science (in partnership with King’s College School, Wimbledon and Nanjing Foreign Language School) is seeking to appoint a Head of Academics to join a learning community that integrates the best of international and Chinese education. 

The Head of Academics is responsible for overseeing all academic affairs, with a primary focus on teacher training, curriculum research and development, teaching evaluations, K-12 curriculum integration, and school-wide academic activities. This role requires extensive academic experience in an international education environment, as well as outstanding leadership and communication skills. The individual must be able to collaborate effectively with various departments and teaching teams to drive academic excellence and promote the school’s academic development.

Background

Wuxi Dipont School of Arts and Science was founded with the strong support of the Wuxi local government, through a partnership between two world-leading schools – Nanjing Foreign Language School, China and King’s College School, Wimbledon, UK – all of whom aimed to build a “school of the future” which focuses on providing well-rounded education. It opened in September 2018 with 750 pupils and has a current enrollment of just under 2,000 students. This remarkable growth is testament to the quality of the school, its exciting vision and the support of partners, parents and the wider community.

Job requirements

About you

  • Master’s degree in Education, or a related field.
  • Experience in K-12 curriculum management and integration design, with a strong familiarity with international curricula such as IB, AP, and IGCSE.
  • A minimum of 10 years of teaching experience in international schools, with at least 5 years in academic management.
  • Extensive experience in teacher training and curriculum research, with the ability to manage and lead teaching teams effectively in a multicultural environment.
  • Excellent organizational and coordination skills, with the ability to oversee and drive academic tasks across multiple grade levels and subjects.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of interacting effectively with teachers, parents, and students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, with the ability to adjust educational strategies based on teaching and learning outcomes to promote continuous improvement.
  • Passionate and innovative, committed to achieving academic excellence and supporting the holistic development of students.
  • Culturally sensitive, with a deep respect for and understanding of cultural diversity, and the ability to work successfully in an international education environment.
