High School English Teacher (IB)
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
1. Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to the diverse learning needs and abilities of students.
2. Assess, record, and report on student progress through formative and summative assessments, providing timely feedback for improvement for students and parents.
3. Analyze students’ results and assessments to inform future teaching practices and support student achievement.
4. Provide pastoral care and academic support to students, ensuring their well being and success in English subjects.
5. Supervise students during lunch, study hall, and night study preparation sessions and undertake safeguarding supervision duties, ensuring a safe and productive learning environment.
6. Communicate effectively with Chinese students, understanding their unique needs and ensuring concepts are clearly understood, even for those who may not be fully conversant in English.
7. Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, behaviour, and other concerns.
8. Teach Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) , fostering the holistic development of students outside of the core curriculum.
9. Conduct field trips to enhance students’ experiential learning and connect classroom lessons to the real world.
10. Participate actively in school life, including attending school events, open days, and parent-teacher conferences, contributing to school publications.
11. Administrative duties as assigned, such as tutorship.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in English, English Literature, Linguistics or a related field, a Master’s degree in Education or English is an advantage.
2. A recognized teaching certificate such as PGCE from a reputable institution.
3. Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in upper secondary English with a proven track record of student achievement; Proven experience in preparing students for IB exams.
4. Experience working with English acquisition learners is an advantage.
5. Passionate educator, student-centered teacher, excellent cross-cultural communicator, life-long learner.
