The university has a diverse community of talented and visionary faculty, under the leadership of our Party Secretary, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Prof. Chen Xiaohong. It has five interdisciplinary clusters, including Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Computing, Digital Economy and Smart Management, “Dual Carbon” and Green Technologies, Digital Media and Humanities &Arts, and Smart Party Building and Rule of Law. It also has a National College Practical Education Base for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

Research and discovery are at the heart of what we do, and we tackle the greatest challenges and contribute to the common good. The university has a National Basic Science Center, a National Key Laboratory of Data Intelligence and Smart Society (cultivation project), and leads in the construction of Xiangjiang Laboratory, a major scientific initiative by Hunan Provincial Government, which focuses its research on fields such as the new generation of artificial intelligence, advanced computing, and advanced manufacturing.
