Requirements:
– Previous experience as an English as an Additional Language (EAL) teacher
– Previous experience as a Learning Support teacher.
– Knowledge of various methods for teaching English to non-native speakers and students with learning differences.
– Specific qualifications related to SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) or a willingness to undertake a SENCO qualification.
– Level 7 access arrangements qualification or a willingness to obtain this qualification.
– Ability to conduct psychometric tests and write reports for access arrangements or a willingness to obtain the relevant qualification.
– Leadership experience.
Responsibilities:
– Act as the team leader for EAL and Learning Support (LS) in the High School.
– Develop learning resources for EAL and LS to support student development.
– Ensure the school is equipped with adequate equipment, software, and facilities for Special Educational Needs (SEN) and EAL.
– Support teachers in developing and implementing effective teaching, behaviour management strategies and differentiation in the classroom.
– Maintain systems for pupil records, ensuring that information is accurate and up-to-date.
– Ensure that Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and Accommodation Plans are regularly reviewed in collaboration with parents
– Assess the specific educational needs of students with learning disabilities and provide recommendations for their support.
– Conduct WIDA testing.
Preferred Qualities:
– ESL, TESOL, or TEFL certification.
– International experience.
– MYP (Middle Years Programme) experience.
– DP (Diploma Programme) experience.
– Familiarity with the DP Access Arrangement Policy.
– Knowledge of UDL philosophy
