The Secondary campus is located in Upper Happy Valley at Blue Pool Road and accommodates over 800 students from both streams. The international stream currently has approx. 1300 students registered across the 4 campuses.

Part-Time Teacher (16 hours per week) of Mandarin, International Stream Job Outline

Contract Term: 1 year part-time contract from August 2024, renewable

Due to growth an exciting opportunity has arisen for a teacher of Mandarin with an ability to teach native level speakers at FIS. We are seeking an inspirational and energetic person to teach in the Secondary school. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of academic success, innovation and development throughout their career.

This is an opportunity for the candidate to help the Leader of Learning for World Languages to shape the future of the faculty and help lead the ambitious vision and mission of the school. Mandarin is a popular option for students through the School from Years 7 to 13 and is taught at all levels. Foreign, second and first language examinations are offered to IGCSE candidates: IBDP students currently undertake language B HL/SL courses and Mandarin A HL/SL is planned for the upcoming school year.

We are seeking a teacher who will:

●      Have a deep knowledge and teaching experience of international curriculum including IGCSE and International Baccalaureate diploma, with an ability to teach students at all levels of Chinese: 1st, 2nd and foreign language

●      Be well qualified with an internationally accepted degree and teaching qualification.

●      Be a dynamic, forward-looking professional with the experience and skills to contribute to the faculty;

●      Be an outstanding teacher who is passionate about learning and teaching has experience of inquiry-based learning and sets high expectations for every student

●      Be able to work collaboratively with a team of teachers

●      Be internationally-minded and culturally sensitive

●      Be committed to fostering a culture of continuous improvement
