Job Description

The Research Team of Geospatial Informatics at Shenzhen University invites applications worldwide for positions of postdoctoral researchers on urban informatics, surveying and mapping, smart city applications, and remote sensing on natural resources and environmental management.

1. Qualifications

(1) Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree (titled within three years) in Surveying and Mapping, GIScience, Geomatics, Geography, Transportation, or a relevant field from an accredited institution; possess good physical conditions and moral characteristics; under 35 years of age;

(2) Applicants demonstrate great abilities of teamwork, coordination, and leadership;

(3) Good at algorithm and programming.

2. Research Tracks

(1) Cartography and geographic information engineering

(Mentors: Prof. Guo, Renzhong; Prof. Li, Qingquan; Prof. Huang, Zhengdong; Prof. Yue, Yang.)

(a) Theory of Pan-map and spatial data visualization;

(b) Design and development of urban analytics platform;

(c) Virtual urban environments;

(d) Spatiotemporal big data management.

(2) Engineering surveying

(Mentors: Prof. Wei, Ziqin; Prof. Li, Qingquan; Prof. Zhang, Dejin; Prof. Zhu, Jiasong)

(a) Precise engineering surveying;

(b) Outdoor and indoor positioning and navigation;

(c)GNSS, PNT..

(3) Photogrammetry and remote sensing

(Mentors: Prof. Guo, Renzhong; Prof. Li, Qingquan; Prof. Wu, Guofeng)

(a) 3D building model reconstruction from multiple data sources;

(b) Remote sensing data processing;

(c) Dynamic surveillance of natural resources and modeling analysis for ecological environment.

(4) Urban big data and Smart city

(Mentors: Prof. Guo, Renzhong; Prof. Li, Qingquan; Prof. Huang, Zhengdong; Prof. Yue, Yang; Prof. Zhu, Jiasong)

(a) Urban big data analytics and data mining;

(b) Smart transportation;

(c) Synergic decision-making and services in mega city regions;

(d) Spatial pattern analysis of national territory development.

3. Salary and Offer Package

(1) The postdoctoral researcher positions are contract positions with a fixed term of 2 years. The overall offer package is at least CNY 340,000 per annum including:

(a) a composite salary of CNY 160,000 (before-tax, including salary, social security, provident fund, and housing stipend) provided by Shenzhen University,

(b) a postdoc stipend of CNY 180,000 (tax-free) provided by the Municipal Government of Shenzhen, and

(2) (c) allowance from a specific research group based on performance.

(3) The research team will provide necessary working equipment, venue, and environment; domestic and international academic communications will be supported.

(4) After the contract is completed, postdoctoral researchers with distinctive performance enjoy prioritized candidacy to be further appointed by Shenzhen University. After the contract is completed, postdoctoral researchers who continue to work in Shenzhen are eligible to apply for up to CNY 300,000 starting fund for research; ones who qualify the Talents Pool of Shenzhen may be granted a reward or be appointed in the “Pengcheng Peacock Project” of Shenzhen University or other research institutions in Shenzhen (depending on the terms and conditions issued by the Human Resources and Social Security Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality).

4. About the Team and the Mentors

The research team focus one on Urban Informatics, smart city applications, and remote sensing on natural resources and environment management, and hosts multiple labs and research centers including the Joint Laboratory of Smart Cities for the Great Bay Area of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau, Guangdong Key Laboratory of Urban Informatics, MNR (Ministry of Natural Resources) Key Laboratory for Geo-Environmental Monitoring of Great Bay Area, MNR Technology Innovation Center of Territorial & Spatial Big Data, MNR Key Laboratory of Urban Land Resources Monitoring and Simulation, Shenzhen Key Laboratory of Spatial Information Smart Sensing and Services, and Research Institute for Smart Cities of Shenzhen University. The research team has also established close connections of cooperation and platforms for postdocs training with companies like Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., Overseas Chinese Town Group, and Shenzhen Smart Cities Sciences and Development Group.

Prof. Ren-Zhong Guo

Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Academician of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences; expert of geographical information engineering in China; professor; Ph.D. advisor. Incumbent director of the Research Institute for Smart Cities, Shenzhen University.

Research interests: Smart cities, geographical information engineering, cartography, 3D city modeling, simulation of virtual urban environments, resource management of national territories, spatial planning of national territories.

Prof. Ziqin Wei

Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; renowned expert of geodesy; founder of the spatial geodesy in China; researcher; Ph.D. advisor.

Prof. Qingquan Li
