Job Description

Applications are invited for appointment as Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 518726), to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Biology, Bioinformatics, Medicine, or other related disciplines. Interdisciplinary expertise along with experience in conducting collaborative research with clinical scientists would be advantages. Post-doctoral experience in basic/clinical studies and evidence in successful competitive research grant applications are essential. They should be organized, self-motivated, fluent in written and spoken English and Cantonese, and able to work independently as well as in a multi-disciplinary team of orthopaedic surgeons, biologists, and bioinformatics. The appointee will work as an independent investigator tacking clinical problems related to Orthopaedics and Traumatology with advanced biotechnology and bioinformatic algorithms to provide solutions such as biomarkers for precision clinical decision making and potential therapeutic strategies to improve clinical practices.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.
