Job Title: Resources Officer (China)

Role Purpose


To provide professional business support services to internal and external customers in compliance with agreed standards, guarantee a high level of customer satisfaction and present a consistent and quality image of the British Council to all customers.



Main accountabilities but not limited to the following:


Business support duties

  • Receptionist, to provide high standard services to internal and external visitors, following British Council Visitor Management Procedures.
  • Responsible for general office administration, including but not limited to: office maintenance, tidiness, facility management, customer services to visitors, courier services, stationary ordering, and procurement etc.
  • Travel bookings of flights, cars, train tickets and accommodations
  • Provide logistics and administrative support to overseas British Council Staff throughout their stay in China.
  • Support in fixed asset/inventory management, and finance related tasks
  • Office supplier evaluation and management
  • Provide logistic support for meetings, training sessions, events, and recruitment.
  • Support continuous improvement of processes and procedures.
  • To perform other ad hoc duties as required such as backup duties etc.
  • China Resources centralization support.



Role specific knowledge and experience


  • At least one-year full time experience dealing with administrative work that requires high standard of accuracy, time restriction and attention to details. 
  • customer service experience
  • and level 1 computer skills (can effectively use Windows platform applications: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience in people management is desirable.




  • The British Council systems and global processes operate in English. Written and verbal proficiency in English is required.
  • College level or equivalent experience. (Bachelor’s degree is preferred)
  • Work hours (These will be managed within HR guidelines, including work-life balance policies)
    • working on shift per request
    • on call during unsocial hours per request
    • and occasional weekend working/unsocial working hours are required.

Conditions of Employment: Local Direct Hire
