About GZIC
The GuangzhouInternational Campus (GZIC) is the third campus of SCUT after theWushan Campus and the University Town Campus. GZIC is jointly established byMoE, Guangdong Provincial Government, Guangzhou Municipal Government, and SCUT.It is the first and only campus that MoE cooperates with the university and thelocal governments to build a world-class university in cooperation with topoverseas universities. The campus aims to help drive innovation and serve thecountry through education and research activities, as well as contribute to thedevelopment of the Guangdong-Hong Kong and Macao Greater Bay Area.
Located in Panyudistrict of Guangzhou City, GZIC covers an area of 110 hectares with 1.4million square meters of floor area. The total investment of the campus isestimated to exceed 20 billion RMB. Upon completion, the campus will enrollabout 15,000 students and employ 1,800 staff. In line with SCUT’s strengths inengineering, GZIC focuses on disciplines such as intelligent manufacturing,biological medicine, advanced materials, ecological environment, AI and otheremerging engineering and interdisciplinary fields. Ten new engineering schoolsand a host of cross disciplinary research institutes will be setup on thecampus. So far, six schools have been established, namely, the School ofBiomedical Sciences and Engineering, the S. M. Wu School of IntelligentEngineering, the School of Emergent Soft Matter, the School of Microelectronics,the School of Future Technology and the School of Marine Science andEngineering. Together with related research institutes, the following threefrontier discipline clusters are being formed: biomedical engineering and lifescience, artificial intelligence and high-end manufacturing, and advancedmaterials and devices.
The schools offera complete system of undergraduate, master, and doctoral programs. Enrollmentfor graduate students has been open since September 2018, while undergraduateenrollment begins in September 2019. With the competitive education resources,GZIC is highly recognized by high-school students and parents and this iswitnessed by the admission rate of 2.5% in 2024. More than 50% of the admittedstudents have received awards in national science fairs and sciencecompetitions. About 10% of the students have won awards in national academicOlympiads.

Positions
1. Faculty position(tenure track): Assistant Professor or Associate Professor
Requires a doctoral degree in the relevantdiscipline.
Applicants should have equivalentqualifications and research records to serve as a tenure-track assistantprofessor or associate professor at world-class universities or researchinstitutes.
Applicants are expected to work full timewith a tenure track period of 6 years. Successful candidates in the rankof associate professor may apply for an early tenure review within the normalwindow of 6 years.
2. Faculty position(tenured): Associate Professor or Full Professor
Applicants have served as a tenuredassociate professor or in an equivalent position at a world-class university orresearch institute, or have an academic record of the same standard.
All applicants are expected to work full timeon campus after accepting the offer.
Workingand Living Benefits
1. Working Conditions
Those who have been employed in facultypositions simultaneously qualify as graduate supervisors and will be offeredpostgraduate enrollment quotas.
Qualified postdoctoral fellows recruitedby those who are employed in faculty positions will be paid for by theuniversity for two years.
Start-up research funds and suitable laband office space will be provided in accordance with the requirements of theposition.
The university will support facultymembers to apply for various competitive grants from the national government,Guangdong province, Guangzhou municipality and enterprises to obtain scientificresearch support.
2. Living Benefits
Salary: a competitive salary package correspondingto the position will be provided comparable to that of top internationaluniversities. For applicants who have obtained faculty positions in world-classuniversities, the salary can be negotiated with reference to the applicant’scurrent salary and benefits.
Tax benefits: subject to preferentialpersonal income tax exemption benefits in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao GreaterBay Area (GBA). For qualified talents, the government will provide financialsubsidies for the portion of personal income tax paid in Guangzhou exceeding15% of taxable income, and this subsidy is exempt from personal income tax.
Housing benefits: on-campus rentalapartment (subject to application and approval) and a housing subsidy rangingfrom RMB 1 million to 3 million may be provided according to relevant policiesof Guangdong province and Guangzhou municipality.
Health care: high-quality on-campushealthcare can be provided for faculties and their families.
Talent green card: Guangdong Provincialand Guangzhou Municipal Government provide the talent green cards that offeraccess to specialized services catering to talents, covering housing,healthcare, children’s education, and spouse employment.
Other benefits: according to relevantChinese policies for non-Chinese citizens, the university will pay the employeecomponent of Chinese social insurance, and help with children’s enrollment inthe university’s kindergarten, primary, and secondary schools.
