TPX (Technology, Platform and Experience) China is part of PayPal Global TPX organization, which holds a very large portfolio of infrastructure and platform technology. It includes everything from data centers to developer experience and all aspects like security, reliability, quality, productivity, modernization, enablement and efficiency. The strategy of TPX China is to articulate the believes, principles, initiatives and achievement in order to serve the PayPal operation in China. Application Support is playing critical roles to operate the production environment and services for better customer experience and engineering efficiency.
We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer to be part of the TPX Application Support Team. The candidate will be responsible for supporting application and services running in all TPX data centers. The candidate will interact with global cross-functional teams to understand the service operation and address any issues which may occur during the day-to-day operation following the SOP (Standard Operation Procedures). The individual should be self-motivated, possess creative problem-solving skills as well as the ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time.

In this role, the individual will be part of the operation team within TPX China and have the following responsibilities.

  • Participating and collaborating with cross functional teams in the organization to understand the business requirements and to deliver solutions that can scale.
  • Supporting the application and services in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Applying creativity and out of the box thinking.
  • Proactively anticipating problems and appropriately communicating to the team and management in a timely manner.
  • Being flexible and being able to support all functions of product life cycle when required.
  • Adapting quickly and working in a fast-paced environment by knowledge transfer from PD (Production Development) teams
  • Ability to manage and coordinate multiple teams for any issue and drive to resolution.
  • Maintain and update the SOP as the service and feature changes.

Job Requirements

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience in the IT industry, experience in Finance industry is preferred.
  • Advanced Shell scripting experience
  • Ability to explain complex ideas to those with limited and system knowledge
  • Expertise in software application/service technologies and infrastructure
  • Knowledge of production operation and application debugging, and tracing is a plus
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • SDLC (Software Development Life cycle) knowledge is a plus
  • Familiar with application monitoring techniques and best practices to handle large scale of operations
  • Experience with File Systems, server architectures, and distributed systems
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to take initiative to contribute beyond basic responsibilities
