Job Description

Introduction to the Institute:

Southeast University is one of the first 12 units in the country to establish a Future Technology Institute and is an important part of China’s New Engineering 2.0 Plan. In April 2023, Southeast University pioneered the establishment of the undergraduate major in “Future Robotics,” which was approved and is being constructed under the Future Technology Institute. The talent cultivation goal of this major is supported by strong disciplines such as mechanical engineering, control science and engineering, and instrument science and technology, integrating emerging interdisciplinary majors such as information, electronics, automation, computer, materials, biomedical, and medical imaging. Collaborating with leading domestic enterprises, it aims to address original, interdisciplinary, and disruptive problems in the field of robotics in the future. The Future Robotics major has recruited more than 50 undergraduate students through secondary selection and implements a continuous training program from undergraduate to graduate levels. Southeast University will gather high-quality resources inside and outside the university to create a high ground for teaching and research in the field of future robotics, focusing on producing excellent teaching and research results, and cultivating leading talents who meet the requirements of national strategies to explore cutting-edge unknowns in the field of future robotics and engage in technological innovation.

I. Positions Available:

Chief Professor at Southeast University

Young Chief Professor at Southeast University

Senior Researcher (Professor) / Associate Researcher (Associate Professor) at Southeast University

II. Application Requirements:

International and domestic experts who have made outstanding contributions in the fields of robotics and artificial intelligence basic theoretical research, key technology research, engineering application research, product development, and promotion, including but not limited to experts in robotics science and engineering from international and domestic universities, research institutions, and industries. Among them, the age of the Young Chief Professor is under 40, and there is no age limit for the Chief Professor. The main directions for talent introduction include industrial robotics, artificial intelligence, micro-nano robotics, soft robotics, bionic and humanoid robotics, rehabilitation robotics, emotional robotics, etc.

III. Support Policies:

(I) Chief Professor

  1. Position: Senior position, qualification as a doctoral supervisor, in the teaching career establishment.
  2. Salary: During the initial appointment period of 5 years, the annual salary ranges from RMB 1.2 million to 1.6 million (negotiable). Upon passing the assessment during the initial appointment period, the individual can directly enter the next appointment period, during which the following items can be accumulated:

    • National-level talents may enjoy corresponding tax-free subsidies (up to RMB 2 million);
    • Eligible for the Aston Future Robotics Talent Fund subsidy of RMB 800,000;
    • Eligible for the “Zijin Young Scholars” Talent Fund subsidy, with an additional allowance of up to RMB 350,000/year (for 3 consecutive years);
    • Eligible for the “Xiaomi Young Scholars” Talent Fund subsidy, with an additional allowance of up to RMB 100,000/year (for a maximum of 5 consecutive years).

  3. Housing: In accordance with national and school policies, a housing subsidy of RMB 3-6 million (excluding local government matching funds) is provided; relocation fee of RMB 200,000. Special arrangements for outstanding cases.
  4. Research funding: Not less than RMB 6 million (specific arrangements negotiated separately).
  5. Enrollment indicators: 2 doctoral student quotas and 4 master student quotas annually in the first 5 years.
  6. Related support: Sufficient scientific research and office space provided, priority support for establishing research teams.
  7. Medical care: The affiliated tertiary hospital of the university has a professional medical care team, providing VIP medical services.
  8. Educational resources: Surrounding the campus are high-quality kindergartens and key primary and secondary schools such as Southeast University Kindergarten, Beijing East Road Primary School, and Nanjing Foreign Language School, with abundant educational resources and comprehensive supporting facilities. The university assists in solving children’s enrollment.

(II) Young Chief Professor

  1. Position: Senior position, qualification as a doctoral supervisor, in the teaching career establishment.
  2. Salary: During the initial appointment period of 3 years, the annual salary ranges from RMB 800,000 to 1 million (negotiable). Upon passing the assessment during the initial appointment period, the individual can directly enter the next appointment period, during which the following items can be accumulated:

    • National-level talents may enjoy corresponding tax-free subsidies (up to RMB 1 million);
    • Eligible for the Aston Future Robotics Talent Fund subsidy of RMB 600,000;
    • Eligible for the “Zijin Young Scholars” Talent Fund subsidy, with an additional allowance of up to RMB 350,000/year (for 3 consecutive years);
    • Eligible for the “Xiaomi Young Scholars” Talent Fund subsidy, with an additional allowance of up to RMB 100,000/year (for a maximum of 5 consecutive years).

  3. Housing: In accordance with national and school policies, a housing subsidy of RMB 3-4 million (excluding local government matching funds) (negotiable); relocation fee of RMB 100,000.
  4. Research funding: Not less than RMB 4 million (specific arrangements negotiated separately).
  5. Enrollment indicators: 2 doctoral student quotas and 3 master student quotas annually in the first 3 years.
  6. Related support: Sufficient scientific research and office space provided, priority support for establishing research teams.
  7. Medical care: The affiliated tertiary hospital of the university has a professional medical care team, providing VIP medical services.
  8. Educational resources: Surrounding the campus are high-quality kindergartens and key primary and secondary schools such as Southeast University Kindergarten, Beijing East Road Primary School, and Nanjing Foreign Language School, with abundant educational resources and comprehensive supporting facilities. (III) Young Excellent Personnel

  1. Position: Hired as Senior Researcher (Professor) / Associate Researcher (Associate Professor), in the teaching career establishment.
  2. Salary: During the initial appointment period of 3 years, following the existing salary standards of Southeast University. Various benefits will be supplemented upon selection as a Young Chief Professor at Southeast University. During the appointment period, the following items can be accumulated:

    • Graduates under 35 from the world’s top 50 universities, selected as provincial double innovation doctors, can receive a living allowance of RMB 96,000/year (for 2 consecutive years);
    • Eligible for the “Zijin Young Scholars” Talent Fund subsidy, with an additional allowance of up to RMB 350,000/year (for 3 consecutive years);
    • Eligible for the “Xiaomi Young Scholars” Talent Fund subsidy, with an additional allowance of up to RMB 100,000/year (for a maximum of 5 consecutive years).

  3. Housing: Senior Researcher: Housing subsidy of 1 million RMB, one-time settlement allowance of 50,000 RMB, and first-year rent subsidy of 60,000 RMB. Associate Researcher: Housing subsidy of 600,000 RMB, one-time settlement allowance of 50,000 RMB, and first-year rent subsidy of 48,000 RMB.
  4. Research funding: Senior Researcher (1 million RMB), Associate Researcher (400,000 RMB).
  5. Enrollment indicators: Senior Researcher: All have doctoral supervisor qualifications, with 1-2 doctoral student quotas per year for the first 3 years. Associate Researcher: All have master’s supervisor qualifications, and outstanding
  6. Career Development Pathway: Within 3 years of signing the employment agreement, eligible candidates may apply for confirmation of professorship (researcher) or associate professorship (associate researcher). Upon assessment and successful evaluation, the tenure of the title appointment will commence from the initial employment commencement date.
