Technical Assistant (PR0149/22-23)

The Department of Government and International Studies is looking for an experienced person to provide IT support to the Department and the Faculty of Social Sciences (if necessary), and to manage the Self-Access Learning Unit (SALU) for the European Studies programme.

Responsibilities:

  • Installing, maintaining and troubleshooting PC hardware and software;
  • Providing technical support for live, hybrid and virtual meetings and conferences;
  • Maintaining and updating the departmental website and social media applications;
  • Preparing user guides on IT and Data collection usage;
  • Delivery of technical workshops; and
  • Other assignments to be given by the Department and/or the Faculty.

Requirements:

  • Advanced Diploma in Computer Science / Information Technology or related disciplines, with at least 3 years of relevant experience in IT support;
  • have good computer and website editing skills such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Chinese word processing, Photoshop and Illustrator;
  • Experience in end-user hardware and software for MS Windows, Mac OS and Office365;
  • Experience in managing multi-media lab and AV facilities in the meeting room;
  • Experience in installation of structured cabling systems and network equipment;
  • Knowledge in Zoom, Cisco WebEx, MS Team video conference tools; and
  • A good command of spoken English and Cantonese.

The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of one year. Re-appointment thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
