Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Assistant / Associate Professor in Health Professions Education (HPE) jointly held in the Bau Institute of Medical and Health Sciences Education, Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Education (Ref.:517343), to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and with consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract, subject to satisfactory performance.
The Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Education are collaborating to prepare future educators in the medical and allied health professions, thus we are recruiting an academic in the field of HPE. Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Medical Science, Healthcare Education or a related field. They should have demonstrated strong teaching and research experience in the relevant area, a strong commitment to knowledge exchange/community engagement, aptitude in instructional design using social media/e-learning applications, and a keen interest in promoting undergraduate student learning and postgraduate training. Applicants with experience in curriculum development, teaching, administration and educational research are highly desirable.
As part of the cross-faculty initiative with the Faculty of Education, the appointee will work with colleagues in both Faculties on a master’s degree in HPE. He/She will be expected to (i) develop and deliver courses of the master’s programme specifically in the area of clinical education of HPE; (ii) supervise student projects and theses; (iii) conduct research within the area of clinical education; and (iv) take up administrative and/or clinical teaching duties as required. Besides contributing to the development and delivery of current medical and health sciences education programmes and collaborations, the appointee is expected to provide training in clinical education to allied healthcare professionals in the region.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
