Job Description

Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 519655), to commence as soon as possible on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and with consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree preferably in Medical Science, Biological/Biomedical Science, or a related discipline.  They should demonstrate the evidence of international recognition and scholarship, ability to work across disciplines towards new research initiatives, and a strong track record of high-quality research as indicated by publications and external grants.  Research experience in stem cell biology, fetal-maternal medicine, reproductive immunology and glycobiology will be an advantage.

The appointee will work independently and be involved in various projects related to obstetrics and fetal/neonatal development.  He/She will develop research programmes; write scientific publications, grant proposals and reports; supervise research staff and research postgraduate students; participate in the planning and delivery of undergraduate/postgraduate programmes; and assist in administrative duties.  For further information, please contact Dr. Philip at pchiucn@hku.hk.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.  The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.  Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
