Job Description

Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Assistant Professor/ Associate Professor in the Bau Institute of Medical and Health Sciences Education, LKS Faculty of Medicine (Ref.: 530104), to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and with consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract subject to satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Medicine, Health Science Education or related areas. They should have demonstrated strong teaching and research experience in the relevant area, a strong commitment to knowledge exchange/ community engagement, and a keen interest in promoting undergraduate student learning and postgraduate training. Preference will be given to those who have experience in medical education, e-learning theory, programme design, and evaluation, as well as in the scholarship and evaluation of assessment related to a large-scale cross-faculty interprofessional education and collaborative practice.

The appointee will be expected to (i) develop and deliver courses to undergraduate medical students according to his/her expertise; (ii) conduct research within the area of health sciences education; (iii) contribute to the professional development of Faculty teachers, and conduct medical education research and scholarship relating to the e-learning activities of the Faculty; (iv) provide training in clinical education to allied healthcare professionals in the region; (v) supervise student projects and theses; and (vi) take up administrative and/or clinical teaching duties as required. Enquiries about the post should be sent to Professor Fraide Ganotice, Director of the Bau Institute of Medical and Health Sciences Education, LKS Faculty of Medicine at imhse@hku.hk

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
