Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 520851), to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and with consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract, subject to satisfactory performance.
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering, Neurophysiology, Neuro-electrophysiology, or a related discipline; evidence of international recognition and a strong record of scholarship with demonstrated ability to work across disciplines towards new research initiatives; a strong commitment to engage students in inquiry-based learning at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels; and a strong track record of high-quality research as indicated by publication record and external grants.
The appointee is expected to participate in teaching clinical neurophysiology and neuro-electrophysiology subjects relevant to human health and diseases across a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes including medical, biomedical sciences, nursing and/or biomedical engineering. He/She will also establish an innovative and well-funded research group that is open to interdisciplinary collaboration. Research should be at the forefront of clinical neurophysiology, spanning neuro-electronphysiology, intraoperative neurophysiology monitoring, neural rehabilitation, neural engineering and biomedical engineering. In the course of career development, the appointee is expected to make substantial contributions to the School’s strategic developments in academic and research collaborations locally, regionally and internationally.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
