Job Description

Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in Medical Physics in the Centre of Cancer Medicine, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 519708), to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract.

The Centre of Cancer Medicine is a platform to facilitate the academic development of oncology, created to foster collaboration among cognate disciplines and (sub) specialties within the Centre of Cancer Medicine under the School of Clinical Medicine, and with other Schools, Departments, Institutes, Hospitals and Colleges.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in Medical Physics or Science and recognized board of certification from The American Board of Radiology or equivalent; have at least 5 years of experience in practice and research with track records of success in grant application and peer reviewed publications. Candidates with experience in artificial intelligence techniques in radiation therapy, imaging analysis, bio-physics modeling and big data management would be preferable. It is also desirable to have track records of collegial collaboration with Clinical Oncologists/ Radiation Oncologists. Those with less experience may be considered for appointment as Assistant Professor.

The primary responsibilities of the appointee are to perform leading translational physics research in radiation therapy, build strong collaborative research projects with oncologists (primarily but not limited to Clinical Oncologists/ Radiation Oncologists) and provide guidance on clinical implementation of advanced technology like Artificial Intelligence in the clinic.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
